There was an article in the Sunday Mail about Lillyman getting picked if Thaiday was injured still. Which is completely illogical but there you go.

  2. Toolman TR Man

Fuck you talk some shit. If Tupou had Lockyer kicking to him he'd be scoring every single match, he's lankier and has longer arms than Folau.

  3. Hunter AD Hunt

Pretty sure the old bloke on channel 9 just called Mitchell "Bitchell Pearce"

Well of course he isn't; I personally have not seen anyone better than Izzy. How about you?

As far as I see it, every player's aerial capability is overrated if it is mentioned in the same breath as Folau's.

IMO Tupou is the best; or at least the most consistent current NRL player in the air. And i think they could really exploit the fact that Boyd and Tate aren't full time wingers and are not necessarily what you would call good defusers of the high ball.

Yeah as much as I think tippy is pretty piss weak in most other areas, his ability to score from kicks is enough to have him figure in selection talk.

  6. Wilson SB Wilson

    Fifita out as well.

  7. Lukic L Popovic

I'd rather Richards wasn't picked but he's pretty good in the air. Not as good as Tupou but would still be a pretty big threat vs Tate/Boyd.

  8. Julian BJ Taylor

If we're looking for a goalkicker I'd pick Richards.

If Pearce is out I wouldn't hate the idea of Mullen and Sutton in the halves with Hayne at fullback.

  10. Wilson SB Wilson

I wouldn't hate the idea of Mullen Jeynolds and Hayne at the back.

  11. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

    I actually lol'd at this.

Nothing cuts deeper than a Cribbage's disappointment.

  13. Cribbage RG Cribb

    Tart and Weeman to confirm.

Oh well that fucking proves it doesn't it? Cunt is lankier - Must be just as good if not better in the air.

   ...

Folau had better timing and safer hands. Anybody whose seen both of them play knows this.

I think Boyd and Tate are a lot more solid under the high ball than, say, Quinn was when he had to mark Folau. I'm not saying Tupou shouldn't be mentioned at all, but it reeks of desperation for points to me.

Bird should fight that. 4-6 weeks for that tackle is disgraceful. Well done the NRL for completely overreacting once again.

    NSW are so fucked.

Hayne v Dugan is still up in the air. Hayne could end up on the wing again.

Pearce could be ruled out (a good thing obviously) and you'd think Reynolds is a certainty. But then who partners him? Does Maloney lose his spot and if so who out of Mullen, Sutton and Reynolds get the job?

Does Daley move Gallen to lock for Bird or bring Merrin/Watmough into the starting side?

I really have no clue what he's going to do.

I think there's really only 3 spots up for grabs in the QLD side. These are all pretty much set in stone if fit. Gillett might get a start but I'd be a little surprised if he did. Either way, there's only 3 spots left.

    1.Slater
    2.Boyd
    3.Inglis
    4.Hodges
    5.Tate
    6.Thurston
    7.Cronk
    8.Scott
    9.Smith
    10.Myles
    11.
    12.Thaiday
    13.Parker

    14.Cherry-Evans
    15.Gillett
    16.
    17.

Into 3 spots we have Te'o, McQueen, Taylor, Papalii, Shillington, Lillyman, Cooper, McGuire, Lawrence, and a few others.

They will be fucking desperate for points the way they are travelling tbh.

Yep Tupou's the best we've seen post Folau imo. Not measuring up to him hardly means he's overrated though like you say.

His aerial ability certainly isn't overrated, his game as a whole (in the media) currently is though.

I'm just enjoying the fact that a kid who was only given 5 games in the Under 20's and never rated by his club coaches has spent a couple of years developing his game in the NSW Cup & now first grade is being considered for Origin. Just shows what a well funded Reserve grade competition could provide the comp. He so easily could've fallen through the cracks that so many players who aren't early developers or players who aren't given a chance do.
