Fantastic finish to the naki southland game. what terrific fans the southerners have. If every ITM cup game is going to have an atmosphere like that then I am going to have to go along myself to be a part of it. Maybe foolish thinking to think the lions fans will be parochial but you never know.

Anyways - it is the last scrum of the game. Southland down by 1 point. The naki have the feed to the scrum. Every forward in the Southerners team knows what he has to do. It is time to man up and push for king and country. Somehow it works it is a messy scrum and Southland win a tight head - the first one for the game. But there are a lack of willing runners amongst the southland backs to take it up as no one wants to be the goat. The ball is spun out though and it goes through a couple of phases before some fuckwit in the 13 jersey loses it forward and the naki clear to touch. What a goof. Some fuckwit back coughs it up after the forwards pull of a miracle.

In other news i bought the rugby news in the super market today. Full preview of the ITM season. Good value.

    Always a decent read that.

The North Harbour/Northland game was surprisingly reasonable with a grandstand finish too.

King Country beat East Coast today. Wanganui and North Otago also lost. The Heartlands is wide open, and a big chance of some of the big guns missing out on the Meads Cup at this rate.

The Rams beating both of last season's Meads Cup finalists. Huge difference to last season.

Their next 3 games are in Waikanae, Taupo and Masterton. I'll be hoping to head to all three.

Fucking up your game Welly. Whenever we look good it's just that last pass and our defence

    That's better just before halftime.

    15-12 to Manawatu

Much better performance by Wellington in the second half sees us win 42-15 over Manawatu. Score is probably a lil bit flattering and anyone should commend the way Manawatu started tbh. As a Wellington fan a positive note was that we played the whole game and didn't let Manawatu get away with it.

Good to see the forward pack gel and rumble up some metres through pick and go's and good to see the backs put some class on. Ardie Savea showing us his net worth :fap:

Happy with the win in the end. Still need to work on the handling and the breakdown penalties but if we get things right, we'll be unstoppable , the 2nd half is testament to this.

4 from 4 now with full comp points for each game.

Bring on the shield game now.

Get Ardie on a long-term contract before some cunts try and poach him too.

He only on a year? But yeah this. Hopefully he stays. So much potential.

At least we probably don't have to worry about the Crusaders snatching him with McCaw and Todd occupying the 7 jersey.

    That Otago crowd. Well done!

    22,000!!!!

This is exactly what shield rugby is about. 2 mins left HB winning 20-19.

Otago with the scrum 20 metres out.

was 20-9 when I last checked, bit of a comeback from Otago

    Indeed.

and HB win the shield 20-19!!!!!!

I was pretty neutral but kind of wanted Otago to have a longer stint I guess.

Doing the rounds then. As long as Canterbury and Auckland don't get a sight of the Shield, I'll be happy. Who's the first defence against for HB?

  14. Rego RS Hutchinson

Counties on Saturday. If HB win that then Northland the following week. If HB win that then North Harbour 2 weeks later then Wellington in the last round.

So if HB keep it no body unwanted can get their mittens on it along the way. Same for Counties if they win (Taranaki, Waikato, Southland)

It gets complicated if it starts leaving hands like no body's business but it is possible for Auckland/ Canterbury to get it. Unlikely though.

HB don't deserve it they were more excited about the ITM round robin points up for grabs on the radio today than the shield.

Is there a site anywhere listing when each team last held the Shield?

Bloody King Country played like idiots against Horowhenua. Should never have lost. Poor reffing too from a guy making his heartlands ref debut. Missed a blatant offside and knock on from HK. Should have been a guaranteed 3 points.

HKs #15 had the worst game I have ever seen from a full back.
