2012 State Of Origin

Personally, I am strongly opposed to the idea of Origin being played anywhere but the two competing states. If they're going to move it, I'd like to see other areas of said states come into the mix.

I believe an Origin in Newcastle would be excellent. Revamped stadium holding 33-40,000. A RL heartland, with a rich history in the code. Would be excellent.

Obviously it'll never happen though due to the losses in revenue.

Double the ticket prices, half the attendance. I'd be willing to pay it.:ninja:

Will never happen, although it's good to see we've got the Test at the end of the year.

Canterbury feigned interest in him to drive his price up so they could sign Keating, so the story goes. Not that Keating's signing really worked out for them anyway.

Offtopic, but Dogs are disgraceful side. Getting rid of any players who are loyal or been there a while, like Andrew Ryan, and just always signing up new players. Bred not bought.

Yeah it's blown up in their faces over the last two years, really looked like they were building towards a good period in '09. Lack of Warburton seems to be costing them, perhaps he's in line to replace Ryan.

It's be very interesting to see how many people would name DCE over Prince if an Origin team were picked right now and JT, Cronk and Locky were unavailable. Reckon there's be a few. Prince is deadset cursed.

I wouldn't, but I don't really rate Prince anymore either.

    Daly for mine.

I'd be very interested to hear EWS concede, if he does, that Prince should not be picked and Cronk should be. As we all know he rates, or rated, Prince on par if not better than Thurston as a halfback, and really didn't rate Cronk at all.

Or would we do a nsw and pick Prince like they did Gallen until he eventually gets it right. Has he ever had a good origin game?

Massive call. It's the litmus test of the principles that I and some others hold, namely, when an experienced and proven player is in woeful form, with a young rookie challenger in a brilliant purple patch.

I'd still pick Prince, frankly. And I thought he played like crap in his last full Origin game. He was good in the first 15 of Game 3 though.

They'd prolly pick Sandow before Evans anyway.

DCE remind me a lot of Andrew Johns. Obviously not in the same class but he's definitely got the swagger of a young Johns.

Didn't have a great game tonight. I reckon he still has a while to go before I'd consider him for origin.

I've only seen the first 55 but he's looked fine to me.

Good work in setting up the Stewart try but didn't run the ball enough or set up our attack plus did a really poor kick on the third tackle late in the game when we were building pressure.
Perhaps I expect too much considering how well he's been playing but tonight I thought he was below his best.

Yeh came up with a really odd & crucial decision near the end to kick on 3rd tackle. Needs a lot more experience in pressure games, it's the only question I have over Manly for the premiership tbh.

Cronk's improved a fair bit since I used to spend all day every day pointing out how over-rated he was and Prince has dropped off a bit too; I rate them about equal. I'd probably still pick Prince tbh but I don't think it matters much either way anymore.

I think it's a no-brainer to pick Cronk. Combinations with half the side. Far, far better defender than Prince which is quite important given Hodges's inevitable presence. Has just as good a kicking game. And has been groomed for the role. Picking Prince over him would be mad IMO, mainly due to the message it would send to Cronk. I also really like Cronk's running game.
