    He is a good player, yes, but I think Carney would run riot with a bloke like Walsh inside him. While Pearce is prone to brain explosions.

    Agreed. In Origin, Pearce has actually been quite terrible in defence, IMO. It's a non-issue though. If he had good defenders around him, he'd be fine.

    Lockyer's defence is so underrated, I've seen him pull of plenty 1 on 1 good tackles on the 'best' backrowers in the game. He rarely ever misreads the play or makes a really bad miss where he hasn't at least halted the players progress. That's not mentioning some of his cover defence....

    Are NSW capable of keeping QLD to two or fewer tries?

    They haven't done it since Game 1, 2008.

    Just watching tapes from the last five years - Jeez there's some tries and poor red zone defence.

    Defence and forward metre-age - If you can't get these two very basic, but highly important faculties, right...
