    Tbh I'm with BigGuns here. If you don't know the story, and don't want to know what happens until you watch it then it's a dick move for anyone to tell you. It's just arrogance and a desire to show off their own knowledge.

    If you were talking about the movie, the other person for some reason was completely unaware it happened and made it clear he didn't want to know then yes that just makes you a dick. It's highly unlikely that situation would happen though.

    With American Sniper it's completely different because there are a huge number of people who have no clue about the life of Chris Kyle. The ending was spoiled for me by channel 4 news who did a report on the film and tbh it annoyed me, and all the people i was watching with alot.

    I go back to what I said earlier, it's exactly the same principal with books. Go find out what happens in the 4th book of A song of ice and fire, then list all the major plot points in the Game of Thrones TV thread and see what kind of reaction you will get.

    The movie is a cinematic story, not a documentary on the life and death of Chris Kyle
