2014 State of Origin

Carney did all the heavy lifting in the Smith era and the recent success is Robinson and the roster. Even Mirtimer managed to lay 2-3 tries hitting on hitting bsckrowers in a gane last year taking Pearces place at origin time. He's surrounded by quality with a good game plan behind that dictates that he either pass to damaging fringe runners or step into traffic. Travis Burns could succeed in the 7 for the roosters at the moment

Unless you mean lifting beer I can't take that post in the slightest bit seriously he had all the freedom in the world to roam & play off the cuff, he had one of the best roles going around. All our structure came off the back of Pearce, Anasta & Friend. Running & organising the team was all left to Pearce as Carney quickly found out when Cronulla tried to play him as a halfback. It's just not and never has been his go, did all the heavy lifting.... That'll do me. Next FPN will be accredited for providing all our go forward and Moa & JWH are just milking careers off the back of him.

I actually can't think of a half given more freedom than Carney was under Brian Smith. Certainly not in recent history.

    Your mums my logic.

Carneys bullshit run of form as a 6 with less organizing required got you the big one though which is more what Emm was getting at imo

Smith and Alexander both said it after the game Monday as well. Listen to the people!

Yeah, the context of the debate was Pearce's creativity and passing game. So while "heavy lifting" in a halves sense would usually mean organisation and direction, in the context of that disagreement it basically meant laying on points. Carney definitely did that more than Pearce.

Putting it to down to coaching in 2013-14 is absurd though IMO.

I just read that there are still 9,000 tickets remaining for Origin 1. Joke of a state.

I hope they get what they deserve for these hikes.

Fairly sure that isn't true. Johns played 16 games at halfback for NSW afaik.

Just wanted to thank Eastern Suburbs for getting involved and thus allowing Mitchell to play......again :p

In good news for NSW, Hayne is expected to be fullback. Jennings getting back on the paddock came at a very important time.

Srsly don't think David Mead on the wing would be a bad pick, but whatever.

I'm betting on Bird getting an easy downgrade so he'll probably only end up with 2 weeks which means he'll miss Game 1 but be there for 2.

  14. Alec AD Funkotron

Roosters fans convincing people Pearce should be picked once again.

    QLD appreciates it.

  15. Incey BC Jacobs

Pearce should have got the flick a few series ago, but at the moment noone is really excelling to take over and then you have the added issue of five-eighth still being up in the air.

So at the moment he probably is first choice 7.

  16. Julian BJ Taylor

Yeah I have no idea who should be picked in the halves but it definitely shouldn't be Pearce.

Probably a combination of Mullen/J Reynolds/Sutton/Hodkinson and even fucking Soward before Pearce. I lump Maloney with Pearce as well ftr, fucking useless player when there's little to no room to move and broken field play.

  17. Benny BS Read

    Adam Reynolds >> Josh Reynolds.

  18. Julian BJ Taylor

    I couldn't disagree more.

  19. GYR DW Lewis

I have a feeling that this Beau Scott getting picked rumour is true.

Oh and sorry to break it to you guys who are hoping for something different, as long as Laurie is coach, Pearce is halfback.

  20. Magic AJ Parker

Only see Scott getting picked if Bird is unavailable but there's no way he wont get off imo. Hearing is tonight I believe?
