Boobidy Best Pick: Mohammad Yousuf - Murali and Yousuf were both pretty gun picks and are two of the major reasons I see this team being one that will surprise throughout. Both are retirees though so if you get unlucky, the quality of those picks may come to nought. Worst Pick: Dhoni/Haddin/Christian/Theron - 3 of those four picks have effectively put in a game of catch up cricket. The Dhoni/Haddin mix up was by far the worst drafting mistake in this CPL and only through some solid drafting have you managed to make your team not the odds on spooner. The Christian and Theron picks were in my opinion, mistakes you couldn't afford to make. Overall Squad Depth: C+ The best till last? The "4" bad picks hurt the squad depth a lot overall, a lot of good picks that came late and a few stand out picks in the first 10 have left Boob with a team that will be competitive, but I definitely see them as a team that will be fighting to get out of the bottom 8 rather than into the top 8. Mahendra Dhoni Brad Haddin Doug Bollinger Phil Hughes David Hussey Muttiah Muralitharan Nic Maddinson Joe Burns Alister McDermott Dan Christian Luke Pomersbach Glenn Maxwell Tino Best Joginder Sharma Mohammed Irfan Rusty Theron Ashton Agar Mohammed Yousuf
Downes Best Pick: Anderson - Round 2? Pretty bloody h4x. Also Ellis was a great pick. See Prez? Thats when you should have picked Hall. Great pick. Worst Pick: Suresh Raina - It isn't ODI cricket we're playing here. Raina maybe should have gone in about 17/18 but I don't think anyone would have shed a tear if he didn't. Poor pick. Overall Squad Depth: B- Brilliant first two picks followed by a few mediocre but serviceable early picks means that this is always going to be a team that is going to win games but will gift away just as many. I thinnk a few of your later picks like Hogg and Ellis were pretty gun and actually added some decent depth. I don't have high hopes for this team though but I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up trouncing me. Virat Kohli James Anderson Alviro Petersen Ryan Sidebottom Michael Carberry John Hastings Ravi Bopara Harbhajan Singh Wriddhiman Saha Johan Botha Suresh Raina Kyle Hogg Andrew Ellis James Vince Ned Eckersley Aaron Redmond Veerasammy Permaul Jack Brooks
did suresh Raina fuck your sister or something athlai? averaged about 30 in tests, 45 in FC cricket and is obviously talented. don't think it's a shocker personally. agree 100% with gemmells review though.
Vimes (Callum mostly though) Best Pick: Justin Ontong - Definitely the best pickup by Callum. Went fairly late. Worst Pick: Callum Thorp - I think Callum chose him because his name was Callum. Very average pick, up until this point the picks were all solid if not spectacular. Overall Squad Depth: B- Vimes came into this very late and his last 3 picks were the last 3 of the draft. It's a shame as I think if Callum had given up the goat around the Yuvraj pick, Vimes would have picked a hell of a team, but as Vimes had to make up the last sixth of his team after everyone else had already picked it has put him at a decent disadvantage. I don't see this team spooning it but the lower half for sure. Peter Siddle Rangana Herath Simon Katich Jesse Ryder Neil McKenzie Moeen Ali Rory Kleinveldt James Foster Justin Ontong Bhuvneshwar Kumar Yuvraj Singh Callum Thorp Adil Rashid Andrew Gale Majid Haq Vijay Zol Reece Topley Rohit Motwani
Yeah. Callum started off great but then it looked like he cbf'ed after a while. Ditto Farhat and to some extent Rusty.
Jabba Best Pick: Ishant Sharma - Jabba has managed to fool us all by picking the ugly player. By picking the derided, the almost was. Sharma is a great example of this. Despite how much of a shunt he is, he did not deserve to last this long and his summer in NZ was the icing on the cake. Worst Pick: Scott Borthwick - <iframe width="640" height="360" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/V6F_E5NZ9Y0?feature=player_embedded" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Why? Round 3? Why? You just picked Ashwin. Overall Squad Depth: B+ Top 8 material. It's ugly but it has a lot of depth and talent in the mix. Bots made some really weird picks but I'll admit, when the team came together it paid off. Borthwick still one of the stupider picks in the draft though. Wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't end up making the first XI. Morne Morkel Ravichandran Ashwin Scott Borthwick Ricky Ponting James Hopes Jonathan Bairstow Adam Voges Varun Chopra Boyd Rankin Nathan Coulter-Nile Kithuruwan Vithanage Rob Quiney Temba Bavuma Ishant Sharma Stephen Peters Jason Behrendorff Neil Dexter Tatenda Taibu
I wouldn't have minded the Borthwick if it was made by someone else, but given Jabba already had Ashwin it was a bit of a debacle.
Ritchie Best Pick: Glenn Querl - Querl will probably be a first teamer for you. This is both a good and bad thing. Worst Pick: Corey Anderson - Anderson isn't a shunt, but by committing to pick him so early when he isn't strong enough to carry your team you've managed to throw off your squad balance. Deonarine became a pretty poor pick after this and it's a team really lacking in bowling depth and batting strength. Getting a few of the Test specialists in these rounds would have helped out a lot more. Overall Squad Depth: C+ I reckon Ritchie will have a hard time of it and is likely to be in the bottom 8 due to the lack of depth in his attack. Boult was a great pickup in round 2 but the three allrounders in your first five picks left you with a lot of support bowlers and not a lot of genuine wicket takers. Kevin Pietersen Trent Boult James Faulkner Shikhar Dhawan Corey Anderson Narsingh Deonarine Jacques Rudolph Roshen Silva Chidhambaram Gautam Aizaz Cheema Jiwanjot Singh Dulanjana Mendis Kedar Jadhav Matt Henry Kruger van Wyk Tom Smith David White Glenn Querl
Reckon Deonarine is their worst pick. His bowling is completely over rated by the conditions he plays with and he's no superstar with the bat.
