I think you've turned this down before, but would a "rest of world" team not make sense? Ie, South Aus/Western Aus/South Africa/anything else that doesn't fall under the teams that already exist.

This. It'd become a mockery and would have to be tied to player performance. I just don't see vCash as something that should be delved into in terms of player ability/purchases etc.

Wrt provincials, how about having the first few weeks crammed with provincials - as a preseason, if you will.

We don't have rest of teams on CricSim. It's a staple.

We tried lots of things like that earlier in CricSim's history, and we ended up having great trouble with lineups among other things. The one thing that definitely works with scheduling is a consistent weekly routine. The problem I'm having is that I really wish there were 5 or 9 days in a week instead of 7; 7 is making it awkward for me. :p

If the Lions come in and we keep the "one set of games per day" type structure then that's 5 days of club games straight up. I'm definitely thinking of moving to a "name provincial lineups on Sunday night/Monday" type setup, because a lot of the work is in copying all the lineups into files, running the simming averages program, making match threads etc and if I could just do all that for the week at once and then get on a roll with the simming I think it'd flow better.

Another big possibility is the Rossleigh Trophy and PCDIY-replacement only going for half a season each, so to speak. So I'd do Rossleigh one week, Provincial Seconds the next, Rossleigh the next etc while keeping the PC on every week.

What about something like the Unicorns?

Yeah I thought it was something like that.

Not opposed to cutting some matches, and as provincials are played on neutral ground playing each other once should be enough.

when you said that there will be no PDCity are you gonna introduce 5d matches & ODI matches........?

are domestic competition gonna be a part of s13

Naming provincial lineups early seems to be an idea with the benefits far outweighing the drawbacks. One thing that hasn't been mentioned is that it reduces the need for selectors to always keep an eye out for when the club games finish, with them only obliged to be online on one known day a week, which means more people can be selectors, which means lineups are more reliable still, and so on.

And I doubt anyone will shed tears on losing half their chances to get injured :p

got to double the chance of injury in the 1 run of the sim, obviously :p

agree with the rest though. Benefits > drawbacks

I like the idea so much that I may even implement it at some stage this season, providing the provincial selectors are cool with naming teams when the BS selectors name their teams. Obviously the blokes who do both anyway won't be phased.

I think the naming all line-ups at the start of the week definitely makes sense. Even starting from now.

I think looking at a re-shuffle of how Provincial cricket is working would be good. With more and more provinces coming in I feel it seems to be being valued less and less. I know N/S has taken over what Provincial cricket was, but I think it is starting to fall quite a way below BS in relevance. The PC especially doesn't seem to carry much enthusiasm. I wondered about doing something like conference/tiers and then finals.

    E.g.:

    North

    Queensland
    England
    Celtic Provinces
    Asia

    South

    NSW City
    NSW Country
    NZ
    Victoria

Finals (could be worked in a number of ways)

Are you considering some splitting of New Zealand for Provincial cricket?

To me, the biggest thing will be getting rid of the Bye.

That's not too bad a suggestion there Heef, though I'm not sure how it'd cope in the longer format. We could probably compete with 2 teams in OD though.

Yeah, if Provincial lineups are the issue, then that could be a fix. On top of this, I think the rule on lineups needs to be a lot stricter. I wouldn't be against a 48 (if not even 24) hour deadline after a club's previous game was simmed. If it doesn't happen, instant docking of ladder point(s).

Some people will argue that it's not fair because not everyone can be on every day. I agree, but it's up to the club to pick someone who can be on every day to be CoS. It's up to them to make arrangements so that a legitimate lineup is submitted each week.

Subforums for South Africa, Celtic Provinces and Nullabor. Probably.

  19. AVA T Delonge

Injuries always made this a problem, especially if the injuries are only being updated once a week now.

    Against.

    Keep the British subbie.

And stop splitting provinces, provincial cricket is getting meaningless when it should be a step up from BS.
