Tim Sheens is not the problem. Lack of quality players and inconsistancy is the reason why the Tigers are struggling.

  2. Lukic L Popovic

    1. Gallant
    2. Tagive
    3. Collis
    4. Lawrence
    5. Tuiaki
    6. Marshall
    7. Moltzen
    8. Gibbs
    9. Farah
    10. Galloway
    11. Ellis
    12. Heighington
    13. Galea

    14. Skandalis
    15. Laurie
    16. Trimachi
    17. Morris

That side is better than a fair few in the top 8 now.

Sheens has the worst game plans, refuses to give a KPI after 4 years of shit even though Hasler did during a premiership campaign, and picks the worst ****ing deadwoods. Ryan, Halatau, Payne, Morris@ 1/2 etc etc.

Consistency is a problem, however we were getting some good performances together until we got injury0wned. Storm, Knights, Dogs, Souths and Broncos. Heck, we were one of the form teams over that stretch.

    No, it isn't.

  4. AVA T Delonge

Yeah, because the Eels haven't gone through a rough patch with injuries or anything

  5. Fungus K Fung

    Or the Knights.

We've lost our mots experience players to injury.

The Tigers do not have a top-8 quality squad but they certainly aren't worthy of the spoon either. I actually think they've played pretty well in recent times given they've had their best prop and their two best centres out.. not to mention their best player in general out last week.

That's not to say they're actually good, because they're not - you can't have Marshall at halfback, Corey Payne in the team and Bryce Gibbs and/or Todd Payten as one of your top two go-forward men and be a good team - but they're one level above Parramatta, Cronulla and Easts. And even Souths, IMO.

Missing Ben Rogers will be your biggest problem. You're not a chance at the spoon though?

  8. Fungus K Fung

I'm not so sure about that. :p

  9. Flack SA Flack

I'm sure enough for the both of us.

Ay, it's been tough for you, but you've just played horribly as well.

You played poorly up until this week in most games, we've played quite well in losing efforts.

Can we get the wooden spoon from here anyway?

Losing all the games from now on - although we still have two byes to come.

  12. Lukic L Popovic

    I meant my team.

Haha okay - well you can't have Moltzen at halfback, Tagive in the team and Bryce Gibbs or Todd Payten as your second best go-forward man and be a good team.

The selections haven't been great, but they haven't really been awful given what we have available to us. We don't have an organising halfback at the club in any capacity, nor do we have any props better than Gibbs and Payten, other than Galloway.

    Warriors?

Moltzen's natural position is halfback. Imo, all we need is someone who can control the pace of the play and kick an accurate ball. After him we could use Josh Lewis.

Tagive is decent enough, sure he's not of fair FG quality, but he'll hold his own against most.

As for going forward, we usually go out wide through the hands so most times we'll end up with a couple of dummy half runs and two hit-ups, meaning we'll only need one quality prop. Anyway, I'd take Gibbs/Payten over some props in the top team. The Dogs have Hodgson who isn't much better than these two so it obviously wouldn't pose a problem.

He looks okay at first receiver, but there's a big difference between looking okay at first receiver and being a halfback. He's not an organising player; he wouldn't be an upgrade from the current setup in attack and he'd be a downgrade in defence.

What we need at halfback is someone who can give the team genuine structure and make key decisions on when to attack and when to play conservatively. We simply do not have anyone at the club capable of doing that. I'm almost ready for Morris at hooker and Farah at halfback again but that's a long, long, long way from being ideal either.

Hodgson's a mile better than Gibbs and Payten. They also have a genuine organiser at halfback (the best in the business at this facet of the game, in fact) which really helps the forwards in general.

The only team I've seen be successful with no genuine halfback and only one prop is Newcastle. And they confuse me so damn much that there's no way I'd try to copy them. :p

Dureau? Mullen isn't at his best at halfback, but is better than some there.

One prop? We have used more than that. :p

It's all part of teamwork - not individual brilliance. :p

  18. Cribbage RG Cribb

You've played significant portions of this season with no halfback (and no, Mullen does not count) and one prop on the field, and actually excelled. Everything about it points to fail but it's actually worked really well.. better in fact than when you've gone with what I think should work and had two or three props out there and Dureau at halfback.

  19. Fungus K Fung

Ah, yeah with Tolar injured, we needed Taufua to play prop - he isn't one though. I also think if Simpson wasn't injured he would've taken up that position.

Actually, Houston played front row a few games ago and did fairly decent.

Smith hasn't gone for Dureau that much because he is kind of a defensive liability.

    But that's Smith for you.

  20. Cribbage RG Cribb

That's precisely my point. None of those players are props - they are second rowers. You were playing with one prop and no halfbacks for large portions of matches, and beating quality teams in the process. It made absolutely no sense
    - ergo, your team confuses the shit out of me. :p
