    Some of you guys don't understand bookmaking, aye? The odds started shorter than that, with the Sharks a bit further out at about 2.80, but I was getting too much money on the Sharks, so cut their odds and lengthened t'others.

    Nah each individual book maker holds his own book. There are a number of people with book making rights on here they all have reasonably high vCash, but they need to in order to be able to cover there losses.

    Whoever starts each thread with the odds is the bookie for that event. So if you bet on this, for example, and lose.. Heef gets your vCash. If you win, you get his.

    That's very interesting. Stops inflation I suppose - over on PlanetCricket we had people dealing in the millions of vCash because all the money for vBookie was provided by the bank

    Seriously though, I think 1.45 for the Sharks not to win is excellent value, even despite the fact that I'm paying the bookie's cut three times over. The early bets on the Sharks opened the door for me in a huge way.

    Yes the TAB is a book maker, and they hold the book. It's much easier to think about it in terms of a race track though where they have individuals keeping books, rather then large faceless companies.
