http://www.nrl.com/transfer-window-on-the-nrl-agenda/tabid/10874/newsid/74274/default.aspx I'm all for it although I very much doubt the traditionalists will be.
NRL should really give the Raiders a million bucks or something as a good will gesture. always getting ripped off losing blokes.
sounds to me like its just making it easier for cashed up clubs to continue spending money in juniors that other clubs have already scouted and developed.
nrl should just not allow released players to play for a new club until their contract would have ended. youd see a lot less player movement midseason, and less cunts just looking for bag fulls of cash.
There should be a transfer window where players who are off contracted and haven't been re-signed are up for grabs. This window can also involve players who want to break out of contract rather than doing it throughout the season. It will at least keep the focus on the footy during the season like how it was always meant to be.
Good ideas. Sounds all well and good in theory, but in practice there are legal issues here, unfortunately I'd pretty sure they'd win a court case if the NRL tried to deregister them. But maybe I'm thinking incorrectly here.
Yeah absolutely. If a player is sacked for breaching his contract, the NRL should straight up not register him until that contract would've been over. Obviously it's different in situations like Inu and Perrett going to Canterbury last year as their club was happy to release them on performance grounds if someone else wanted to pick them up, but the likes of Dugan just popping up for other clubs in the same season is a disgrace and having a "transfer window" is the most retarded way possible of dealing with it.
If the transfer window meant that was the only time a contract could be negotiated out of for release then it would avoid situations like Dugan from arising.
Oh it definitely would, but as I said it would be the most retarded way possible of dealing with the issue if that's what it set out to fix.
It may deter from players actually going down that path. It may also make them think twice before signing a new contract. I can see where you're coming from though.
Big meh to all of that tbh. I think a one month transfer window could be really exciting for the game so long as it was properly policed. Not like the old June 30 bullcrap where all the worst kept secrets were confirmed.
