Well, I don't think that changes anything. The advantage you get, I guess, of the extra space is the ability to sign another player, who has played at least eight years at the club or whatever the rule is. That is the same for all clubs.

The bigger problem is the fact that some clubs can and do play players more than what the salary cap allows them to.

I mean, doing away with compo picks theoretically affects my club more than others, which I guess means I don't have a vested interest in it. But at the end of the day, the whole idea of double compensating clubs doesn't make sense to me. The smaller clubs have to find other ways of competing with the bigger clubs.

For instance, the Dogs have been able in principle to persuade Crameri to come to the club, despite far worse facilities. While a lot of people will say that this is entirely a monetary thing, I don't agree. It plays a part, but I think the Dogs are creating an environment where people want to play there. That might be wishful thinking on my behalf, but that's the sort of thing that the smaller clubs have to do to compete in free agency - not just bend over and take the picks.
