    Would suck if Sewell left. Can't see many clubs being after him except Melbourne and GWS.

    Tough decision for Shaw to make too, very tough to turn down a deal like that. Equally hard to say no to Geelong as well.

    Was also mentioned that the exact look of picks might be a little. I'd say it's more likely 55 goes to brissy and the hawks upgrade the crows 3rd into their 2nd.

    I still doubt he'd move to Brisbane. It's different if you're drafted, but when you have a choice and several Melbourne based clubs are offering better deals it'd be pretty stupid to move.

    Well no, it won't. How would it be any different to now anyway? The clubs at the bottom of the ladder will still be a feeder club with free agency regardless of whether they get compensated.

    It's only a problem if you continue to allow players to be paid outside of the salary cap with endorsement and employment deals from what are essentially related parties. All things being as they should be, each club is constrained by roughly the same salary cap (NSW and QLD excluded, but hopefully that'll change).

    The compensation you'd get from losing a player to free agency would be extra cap space. There's no good reason to give Hawthorn, for example, what is effectively "double compensation" by (a) giving them extra cap space to spend on a player say at the end of next season and (b) access to one of the best kids in the draft.
