Actually he did used to be a lot better back then, did a lot of different moves other then the five knuckle and the attitude adjustment, which is the worst finisher Ive seen in wrestling apart from Hogans leg drop.
You do realise he quite clearly has bad knees and has a history of upper body injuries, the best way to combat that is the strengthen the muscles around the injury, due his body composition like the Rock it means it is easy to build up, look at triple H, he puts it all on really easily and not because of roids, its the same with Randy Orton his body shape has changed hugely from when he started but its because he gets injured

I haven't seen him wrestle too much apart from being set up as Orton's whipping boy but he from what I have seen, he isn't too bad. And he's pretty good on the mic when he's given the chance. Gut feeling.
Lol people hate Michael Cole because of his current persona (which is going to change after WM anyway) not because of his ability to commentate. You cannot even come close to comparing Cole with Booker though. You can actually listen to Cole. Everytime I hear Booker T say something it makes me cringe. He has the worst voice ever for commentating.
