It wasn't that. I don't think he was claiming unkillable either. He said he'd come back stronger as Gandalf the White or something so I thought mafia wouldn't risk it. Should have thought about it more though, granted.
I actually believed I wouldn't die. Or at worst, come back 1 day/night phase later. I had no idea my fate rested with Callum. My role PM said this: Servant of the Secret Fire: As a Maia and an emissary of the Valar, you cannot truly be killed. You cannot be converted. Nothing about being dead for awhile and coming back, so just assumed given i cannot be killed a kill attempt would fail or s/t idk.
Don't agree with what Athers was allowed to do at all btw. Entirely unrealistic. If you recieve a message, you know you've recieved a message. There's a difference between that and knowing that you've been doc-saved or not. In this game, there wasn't a difference at all. Regardless, he played the role he had very well so deserves it.
Yeh and Riddy too. But we'd have nailed Athers long before I thought about system messages, and then it would have come down to a traitor hunt lynching between Eds, marcuss and weeman.
I think this game was suited to town quite a bit. Mafia had very few killing options and unless Theoden played like an idiot there were no chances to multi kill. The convert dynamic was pretty much the only thing that gave mafia an outside chance, unfortunately Skippos coming back from the dead made it seem even more impossible. Reckon if Slyza claimed a hobbit or something more realistic and avoided the lynch we'd have won that game. Credit to Marcuss for almost winning it from what seemed like an unbelievably impossible position when it was just me and him vs. a shit load of people.
Also Howe keeps giving me abilities that I use to break his games. First the hobbit QT thing and now a system message thing. Looking forward to my next obscure but OP ability in LOTR 3.
If Slyza hadn't given himself away and GF had cared then you'd have done pretty well, imo. 5/20 is actually about the same ratio as in GoT mafia (they started with 5, but the converter had to sacrifice himself) and the mafia ran away with it there, with people complaining they had too many. It's probably just that most people are getting a bit better at being town. Other people have had similar abilities but done nowt with it, eg Blunder in FOTR. It's as good as you make it really
Yeah the only one that the town hasn't won since SWMI was HPM, whereas 13/30 were at least third-party, and the town lacked investigative roles. Definitely needs to challenged somehow.
I'd say they did well to get Starris and Furball. They were shunty after Blunder was killed for a couple of days but it doesn't mess up the whole game, imo.
