    The Rebirth of the Warriors

The Warriors training in preparation for the upcoming season

With the second season of the SoccerSim just about ready to kick-off many of the teams have been hard at work behind the scenes, signing new players and preparing formations and squad lists for the upcoming year. However, without doubt there has been one team that has been working particularly harder than all the other teams in preparation for the approaching season.

That team is the newly-named and newly-owned Warriors FC. Previously known as the Fanghunters FC, the Warriors have undertaken a drastic revamp; from a new name, to a new owner, to an entirely new selection of backroom staff and even a squad list featuring a high percentage of new players. The Warriors are ready for action and it looks like they could be posing a serious threat to the competition this season.

Previously owned by Arheiner, the then-titled Fanghunters FC were taken over by imposing centre back Eddie Morris who wasn't happy with what he saw at the club. A major shake up then ensued as he looked for a new name and some new players in the hope of becoming serious competitors for the second season of SoccerSim. The Warriors FC didn't compete in the first season of SoccerSim but they have been training fiercely in preparation for the forthcoming year. Their team is unproven but their squad looks strong on paper and it will be interesting to see how they perform this year.

One of the big names at the Warriors is their striker Sam Bakkum, who bagged himself four goals for the Warriors in their first friendly of the season and followed that up with three more in their next match, skinning the defence on multiple occasions with his blistering pace. He is in red-hot form and if he can avoid any major injuries it seems certain he will be one of the stand out players of the competition for this year.

Bakkum declined an interview, however we were able to speak to the new club owner and imposing centre back Eddie Morris who was more than happy to let the media know just how the Warriors were coming along.

"So, how has the new team and the new 'brand', effectively, been shaping up?"

EM: "Yeah, the early signs are definitely good. I'm pleased with the squad and the members we have on board. The thing that has probably pleased me the most has been (Bobby) Blunder stepping up for the Chief of Selectors role and I'm looking forward to seeing how he goes."

"What are the Warriors aiming for this season?"

EM: "I think it's too early to get a real feeling for how the season will go, but from the previous form of some of our players I think we will be very competitive."

"Do you think the Warriors are a genuine shot at the title this year?"

EM: "As I said in the previous question it's early days at the moment. I would like to think we are a shot at the title but we will have to wait and see."

"What are your own personal goals this season?"

EM: "As a player I hope I can be solid and help in defence to keep as many clean sheets as possible. As president of the club I will just be keeping a general watch over everything and I hope to ensure that everything runs smoothly."

"And finally, how is the team coming along?"

EM: "The team is going fine. We have good depth and with the addition of maybe one or two more signings we will be one hundred percent ready for the new season."

    "Thanks for your time, Eddie."

    EM: "No problem at all."

We were also able to get an interview with Brian Quilty, one of the newer players to sign at the Warriors. He is one of the new players who have formed the new-look Warriors and we were keen to ask him just what about the Warriors motivated him to sign.

"So, you are one of the newer members of the team, obviously? What was it about the Warriors that made them the team of choice? Why not move to a more established club?"

BQ: "It's hard to explain, but there's definitely something big happening around here. I sensed it early and this is a club that really has a huge future. We are constantly looking to expand and to change and there is a fantastic attitude around the club at the moment."

"Where do you think the Warriors will finish this season?"

BQ: "We're obviously a new club so perhaps having ridiculous expectations won't help, but with that aside I clearly think we are a great shot at making the finals. We've got a good team built up here, we are training hard and our pre-season form has reflected that. I think we could be the real dark horses of the competition."

"Who has been the most supportive so far at the club?"

BQ: "Eddie Morris for sure, he's been the one that has reinforced this great mood around the team at the moment and he's really looking to build towards the future. He's been supportive of all the other new lads as well and he's doing a great job."

"Alright, thanks for your time and good luck for the upcoming season."

    BQ: "No problem, thank you."

Well, the Warriors really have a good mood set up around the camp here and, to quote Brian Quilty perhaps they really could be the dark horses of the competition this year. It will be interesting to see how the Warriors fare this season.

Yeah true, but the interview about myself was pretty bland, not like I talked myself up hugely and then got the journalist to reply "Can I suck your cock right here?" Just interviewed myself to save asking somebody else questions, to be honest.

Don't get me wrong. I don't have anything against your article, I think its really good.

Its just quite hypocritical of people to dish out to Hughsey and not yourself.
