Penrith top 8 team this year. If 2 bottom 8 teams can have one then so can we.

News on the first trial against Parra in the battle of the west. A very weak team fielded by Penrith, would expect the team Parra has named to run all over them in this game.

Panthers Head Coach Matthew Elliott has named an extended squad to play their first trial of the 2010 season. With a number of players not considered due to injury and deciding to rest the four Australian internationals from last years 4 Nations tournament, the squad is as follows:

Josh Bateman, Matthew Bell, Travis Burns, Lachlan Coote, Shane Elford, Michael Gordon, Wade Graham, Tim Grant, Masada Iosefa, Kevin Kingston, Sam McKendry, Joseph Paulo, Daniel Penese, Frank Puletua, Adrian Purtell, David Simmons, Nathan Smith, Aaron Sweeney, David Tangata-toa, Brad Tighe, Ryan Walker, Luke Walsh

Eels side - Biggest name missing, Tahu

Luke Burt, Nathan Cayless, Eric Grothe, Jarryd Hayne, Nathan Hindmarsh, Krisnan Inu, Kris Keating, Matt Keating, Tim Mannah, Feleti Mateo, Fuifui Moimoi, Daniel Mortimer, Justin Poore, Joel Reddy, Jeff Robson, Shane Shackleton, Ben Smith.

Expecting all internationals back for the Knights game.

Easy win to the Eels no doubt. If they lose I'd tip them for the spoon.

    Team is going down hill.

Penrith Leagues club are changing their name to The Pavillion and cutting ties with the team.

Would laugh if Penrith won, I would be happy but it would be hilarious. The most important of this game for Penrith is Wade Graham, Luke Walsh and Travis Burns.
Got to remember this is the first hit out for Penrith and Parras second so that makes a difference. Penrith will be close to full strength against the Knights.

    Plum in the front row?

    Am I missing something?

  8. Hughesy JM Hughes

Was mentioned in an article saying the battles are Burns and Graham for 5/8 and Plum and Puletua for prop.

    Better get tipping.

From the reports I have heard Penrith looked like a new team (Not just the teal). Has been interesting reading some peoples predicted line-ups. Seems that Walsh disappointed and many people are hoping for a 7. Graham and 6. Burns (I am willing to give it a go). Grant and McKendry also impressed and helped out the halves. Kingston has made an instant impact and Joseph Paulo seems to have MOTM from many people.

Going to be a better season. Bad to hear about Tighe with a shoulder complaint and Simmons also being injured.

AWTA Panthers to make the top 8 this season.

  12. Julian BJ Taylor

lol Walsh is 3rd picked after Lewis and Civo.

  13. Hughesy JM Hughes

Walsh is a natural halfback but from the reports he only had a good short kicking game. I believe Graham and Burns were both outstanding.

  14. Julian BJ Taylor

Yeah well one of Burns and Graham will be 6 and one will probably be a utlity on the bench.

  15. Hughesy JM Hughes

If that is the case Burns should be on the bench. I am keen to use Sammut as well though off the bench because he has put on 10 kgs just like Coote.

  16. Hunter AD Hunt

Good to see the Ball team get a win. Have a few mates in the squad.

    I call lies.

  18. Flack SA Flack

If Graham is halfback, we'll be top contenders for the spoon.

  19. Lukic L Popovic

Walsh should be released. He's a terrible player.

Would fit in at a team like Wests though.

  20. Hughesy JM Hughes

Walsh is decent. Better than all possible halfback for the Tigers. Probably even Marshall AT HALF. These are only reports from the game Iosefa so we haven't actually seen them play yet unless you went to the trial.
