Handling errors. Had the Jags kept hold of the ball all night they'd have won easily. Bit of a choke at the end by the Chiefs there but ended up scoring the winner. I didn't catch the last 5 mins so didn't see the winning try.
By scoring more points. Your question should be how on earth did the Chiefs almost lose. We had the game sown up with 9 min to go but the Jags (or should I say Argentina...which is what they are in a different coloured jersey really) scored 2 great tries to lead by 3. But we managed to score the winning try with a couple of minutes on the clock. It was a frenetic rollercoaster of a last 10 min in one of the best games of rugby I've seen in a while.... but the better team won. Stats were fairly even but we dominated territory and possession in the second half and deserved the win. Particularly given we were down a man for 10 min in the sinbin. Beating 'Argentina' in Argentina was a good result for the boys...especially with all our injury problems.
What Fiery's failing to mention here is it wasn't the best game of rugby, Pollock let the Chiefs get away with a fair bit and the droppee pill spoiled a good game.
Yeah righto Rego. The penalty count was even and we even had a player sinbinned. There were some handling errors but there's no way that spoiled the game. It was a thrilling contest.
Also what Rego's failing to mention is that the Chiefs had to overcame an arduous travel schedule that has seen them traverse the southern hemisphere in the last fortnight, and still win...and are still on top of the NZ Conference where they belong
And Hammington injuries costing the Chiefs majorly. I dunno but if they give the Force a sniff it could definitely go the wrong way for the Chiefs, especially with tired bodies. They needa get going straight away.
Kings not looking too bad actually. Canes not much chop. Did I just hear Justin Marshall say the Kings need to give away more penalties? FMD he's a moron.
Nah Canes have been way more dangerous but at least it gives the Kings something to play for. Maybe a good 2nd in store!!! Can't see the Kings winning it.
I'm not too sure. If the Chiefs were fully fit on paper I'd say yes. They'd be the best in NZ, not to be now. Canes aren't playing their strongest squad tonight anyway.
And there we go, even though we weren't perfect (more in the sense that there was a lot of tries that went begging) we still get everything that we could out of that game. You'd also have to say the Kings defence was the best all season for them which is a positive for them but still 22 points short. Canes were logically a lot more dangerous, a lot of opportunities but a few missed chances. Regardless 5 points out of it, Halaholo looking waaay better than Aso and Proctor looked good in his first game back from injury!
CHIEFS! Tearing the Force a new one. (But apparently we won't be any good because of all the injuries eh Rego?)
Waste of time game. Aussies have too many teams etc etc. I am tuning in for the REbels vs Highlanders which should be a good tussle.
I really enjoy listening to the Aussie commentators. Makes a break from listening to Nisbo - who while is he good - I first started listening to him when I was 14 so could use a break.
Look forward to the Brumbies away game next weekend. Then we will really see how the Chiefs are tracking.
It's later on when it hurts hard. Same thing happened in the Canes v Force game (blowing out in the 2nd) but yeah depth gets tested later on when you have a lot of injuries, especially against better sides. It's good though because the more wins they get here the more they can drop later on.
