Meh. Not a bad list but the lack of a big headliner (except for OutKast) wrecks it. Wouldn't pay that much to see it.
Just compare it to the top 10 or so of 2012: Jack White, Smashing Pumpkins, Bloc Party, At the Drive In, Shins, Kooks, Gossip, Mike Snow, Lana Del Ray, Explosions in the sky, Metric, Mudhoney or 2011: Coldplay, Kanye West, Jane's Addiction, Pulp, Hives, Modest mouse, Mars Volta, Regine Spektor, Mogwai, Kaiser Chiefs, James Blake, Elbow etc etc.
Good taste Julian. I saw Asgeir on Tuesday night and he was awesome. I'm also really looking forward to First Aid Kit's Melbourne sideshow next week. I saw them at Falls a few year ago and generally adore their music; The Big Black and Blue is a stunning album. Looking at the Splendour lineup I can't say I'm sorry to miss it. Last year was infinitely better.
Swear they were all billed as Splendour being their only Australian show, then the other shows were added when I was pretty busy and sold out before I even knew about them. Fucking annoying.
Actually just got back from Byron today, fuck it's a great place for young people. Might consider going to Splendour next year even though it's not really my scene.
