Should this match have First Class status?

    Found this match earlier today:

    I was wondering if people thought it should actually be given First Class status. I believe it wasn't because I had issues with the actual concept of it (didn't fit the 'story' that we had an Australian team suddenly) and I selected both sides, but it was a pretty high quality match and if things like the Care Cup and the old pre-season matches got FC status, this probably should too.

    I should make it clear that if anyone gives an answer from an entirely selfish perspective like "yes because I dominated", "no because I failed" or "no because Skippos dominated and I hate him", they'll be cockblocked and possibly infracted. I don't want that shit in here. Serious thread only as it's a genuine question.

    but my opinion - it depends what you really want first class matches to represent. if you feel they're just for club/provincial; official matches then nah - if it's about the 'first' class games, then yeah. It's a high standard and definitely worthy. tl;dr depends on what you want first class on here to represent.

    I think if we're to be consistent with some of the other weird pre-season games that have been given FC status, it probably should have it.

    It's just a matter of whether we want to own up to the game ever officially happening or not I guess.

    I reckon it should have FC status. It kind of does work into the Cricsim being a country thing if you make it work - like we get North vs South matches (which refer to particular sections of the country cricsim) Australia could be considered a certain section within the country.

    Yeah pretty much. South Africans move as well but Prez/Zohaib aren't good enough to make either of these sides at the moment anyway.

    Surprised to discover that match existed given how much you've been against the idea of an Australian side.

    That said I don't think that what column of the stats site it goes under gives it any more or less credibility, as far as most of us are concerned. It was a point of interest, like trial matches. Giving it FC status would just be a nice feather in the cap for the guys that did well.

    Well, it clearly comes down to whether the whole concept of an Australian XI bothers you. If not, then it would be a pretty high standard and is inarguably of a first class standard.

    The standard isn't the issue IMO. You could argue it shouldn't count for the same reason WSC didn't/doesn't count.

    Although, we do have a misc. matches stats sub-section for a reason..

    And it's a more interesting idea than North/South IMO.

    Reason why I don't think it should be FC is that afaik, it wasn't even a proper match. It's like if there was an admin XI vs rest of CricSim XI or something. Should that be given FC status too, because the skill level should be quite high?

    As miscellaneous FC matches, I don't see the problem.

    Was the Broncos fans/Knights fans match given FC status, Cribb?
