Sequels that lived up to/surpassed the original

    After watching the new 300 movie and it not being anywhere near as good as the first one, I was wondering which movies actually lived up to the hype or was even better than the first.

    The first two that come to mind are The Dark Knight and Die Hard with a Vengeance.

    Agree with the first, disagree with the second. It was easily the 2nd best Die Hard though, but nothing beats the first.

    Back when Bats didn't have throat cancer? Indeed. Almost everything in Begins was good and very few things apart from Heath Ledger were good in the Dark Knight.

    The Godfather II was pretty bloody good, a bit of a shame that it still can't surpass the first though.

    Aliens is a great call, it's like T2 compared to the first. Suspense->Action is better than Suspense->Slasher.


    Godfather 1 vs 2 is a tough one. Godfather 1 divides it's time between a stellar cast, while 2 is mostly carried by Al Pacino at his peak.


    Toy Story 2 was better than Toy Story 1 IMO.

    the dark knight is possibly the most over rated film ever IMO.

    I reckon both 1 and 3 were better.

    The second Guyver film > the first Guyver film. Both shit movies that I wouldn't recommend anyone watch, but the second one was better because it had more violence.
