Daniel Speirs 19 Opening Batsman, Off Break Bowler 25 NSW caps BS Season 8: 652 runs @ 31.05; 21 wickets @ 26.24 FC Career: 12303 runs @ 42.87; 197 wickets @ 36.87 NSW Career: 2575 runs @ 55.98; 19 wickets @ 43.53 A technically sound opening batsman and an under-rated off spin bowler, the New South Wales captain has always saved his best for the Blues, bettering his First Class batting average by a whopping 13 runs. Despite a poor club season, he'll be expected to lead the way up front as he's done so many times before, firming his status as the rep-level player in the land. His bowling has reached a new level and it's rumoured he'll be given more of a roll with the ball as a genuine fifth option.
Prince, I'm happy for you and all, but the QLD selection thread was one of the best selection threads of all time. OF ALL TIME.
Good little write up profiles for the players cribb. Should do this for the presidents aswell :ninja:
Dave Armstrong 13 Opening Batsman 12 NSW caps BS Season 8: 1278 runs @ 47.33 FC Career: 11489 runs @ 42.39 NSW Career: 674 runs @ 30.74 This classy opening batsman make a return to the squad after a season in the wilderness. A terrible Season 7 at club level combined with a mediocre NSW record saw him axed, but his move to the Pumas - where he scored five hundreds in Season 8 at an average above 47 - has seen him recalled. There's no doubting the talent is there but Armstrong has never really found a way to convert it to this level, scoring just one hundred in twelve games and averaging a tick over 30. If he plays, it's expected that incumbent opener Juan Gonzalez will move down to six where he had success for the Cyclones.
This is just like NSW. They have their fancy show with their coloured writing and italic print. Doesn't make you ****s better!
