Okay aside from the massive break, one of the main problems I had this season was trying to fit too much cricket into a week. Lots of times I was in a scramble to sim a bunch of provincial cricket all one day and it burnt me out. It's hard to strike a balance because just having one round of club games per week kind of isn't enough, but trying to squeeze the provincial stuff in too was too much. But I think I'm going to err on the side of 'I could be simming more' rather than 'I should be simming less' to make sure I don't get burnt out and decide to not sim at all for two years partway through a season.. Hence, provincial cricket will be moved to the end of the season. The question that leaves is -- how should I actually structure a week in that case? I'm thinking of giving the one dayers their own separate days and running with something like Sunday - Give people this day to name lineups, post match threads if everyone is done early Monday - Post all reamining match threads if some lineups come in a tad late, sim Horrigan Plate games Tuesday - Sim Horrigan Cup games Wednesday - Sim ALC Game #1 and BS Game #1, broadcast both live if I have time Thursday - Sim ALC Game #2 and BS Game #2, broadcast both live if I have time Friday - Sim ALC Game #3 and BS Game #4, broadcast both live if I have time Saturday - Sim ALC Game #4 and BS Game #4, broadcast both live if I have time, post injuries (Any random day of the week I have the most time on - post auto-simmed results from Callum-Burkey Cup (third grade) games) When I type it up like that it actually seems like a pretty full week -- fuck knows how I did all that and still fit in three comps of provincial cricket for half a season! I guess I'm pretty settled on that now that I've typed it up, but if anyone has any better ideas, chuck 'em in here. Most of all I'm interested to know if you guys would rather swap some of those days around.. like have the BS/ALC games Mon-Thu and then have the one dayers Fri-Sat, or something like that.
I actually don't think it will be a bad thing moving back provincial games to the end of the season. Sometimes it was hard to follow everything. I ended up ignoring 2nd grade stuff predominantly. I know this is probably more a week in week out type thread, but I reckon having a mid-season NvS series would work pretty well. I think they get over shadowed at the end of the season by the finals that have occured. NvS isn't supposed to be a select team for that season, so I don't see it being in the middle mattering. Also allows people to take stock of where everything lies in the club game by having a week off.
The only thing with having NvS in the middle of the season is that some people might get a bit confused wrt academy eligibility, maybe I'm overthinking that though. Like the idea nonetheless.
I also would prefer the FC matches before the ODs, more for a standpoint that BS is the premier competition -> most important -> should come first. But that's just me.
I actually think that's why they should come last. You don't have the curtain raiser after the main event. Happy to swap them around if someone has a better reason than that, like lots of people going out on Fridays and Saturdays and therefore not being able to comment on the live games as much or something, but in terms of what you'd said I'd disagree.
Is provincial at the end set in stone? If so just ignore this and accept my insincere apologies Maybe an idea to have some provincial midseason? Just like a 1-2 week window as a little break to mix things up? No idea if practical. Just a bit like how football operates whereby the top leagues have international break.
The only thing set in stone is provincial cricket not being played in the same week as franchise/club cricket. So this is a fair enough suggestion; it's similar to Callum's really. I definitely don't mind the idea of having something different for a couple of weeks in the middle of the season to break up all the club games.
The other good thing about having a separate window for rep cricket is that getting injured for 1 week doesn't mean you get sidelined for 4 games.
Yeah I've basically decided that having something mid-season is a good idea. Just unsure whether to make that midseason thing the NvS games.. or the Origin, Jae Taylor and Borisc Trophy serieses that I was originally thinking of scrapping entirely.
I like the sound of the week you have planned. I also really like the idea of a mid-season break and something a bit different. I think it would help clubs to take stock mid-way and can be used by selectors/presidents and club members to have a general discussion about the season up to that point.
I like the format. One suggestion from me would be to literally push everything a day forward. Sunday is probably one of the best days to have simmage imo because it's generally a lazy day.
Just sim whatever & whenever you feel like it's not like anyone else could do a better job, yolo Keep it up Cribb
Keep in mind Cribb is talking about 2017 here. Why not have the provincial stuff after every 6 rounds or so and have a two game round before returning to the regular season. Season gets divided up a bit and you would get some build up in player form between games.
