I was hasty about that but I still maintain he should've been playing fullback at Minichiello's expense. And i still maintain he can't defend for shit.

He doesn't belong anywhere near that World 13 side. We know why he was chosen. He's the latest young gun with a power running game. You can set your watch to the supposed experts taking notice of this.

Given his competition it's really not that ridiculous.

He's an excellent finisher, makes great metres for his team out of their own end, big workrate, good awareness, defuses kicks well and is a decent defender no matter how often you say he's not.

He's always going to be a media golden boy due to his ability to put on a step and thus given credit where it's often not due but he's still a very good winger.

A decade ago with the talent of wingers going around I would've said one season isn't enough, he's shown some vulnerabilities that could well be exploited by teams in his 2nd and 3rd full season, so what we've seen so far may be inconclusive. But when your competition is Jason Nightingale, Darius Boyd, James Mcmanus, David Simmons, Brent Tate, Manu Vatuvei, Josh Charnley, Akuila Uate, Ryan Hall, Jorge Tafua & Tom Briscoe then it really isn't that ridiculous to "belong anywhere near that side".

So you're disappointed that Thurston won the Golden Boot but you're fine for RTS to be named in the World 13. Gee what a surprise.

  4. Cribbage RG Cribb

    I'm disappointed with both tbh.

I'm disappointed that Thurston won but really to the extent that I'm sick of backs/halves getting all the plaudits. I do think Thurston is the best half in the world and by quite some distance so I expected him to win it. But yeah I think there were at least two or three forwards who could've won and my vote was for SBW.

    I'm amazed Gallen wasn't nominated.

    Typical response from you.

Typical response to a typical response. Would've bet good money that you'd rubbish Thurston but stick up for RTS.

  8. Magic AJ Parker

And I that you would be more interested in trying to ascertain a motive for bias over actually debating the argument put forward.

Remember when you used to spend less time being a psychiatrist and more time discussing footy?

  9. Julian BJ Taylor

Why are you all over the RTS thing when Brett fucking Morris is the other winger?

  10. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

We fundamentally disagree about his defence and have done for quite some time. There's no point sitting here rehashing that over and over again.

I don't need to be Freud to figure out why you're tacitly supporting one and questioning the integrity of the whole awards for another.

  11. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

    Um what?

  12. Julian BJ Taylor

You're carrying on about bias about RTS. Who the fuck cares Morris is in the team and he's a fucking numpty.

  13. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

Yeah I can't really agree with that. I think Morris is a very good winger and after a long period of ordinary rep form he's really shown his class in the last 18 months. He's much more deserving than RTS IMO.

  14. Tartmaster AJ James

Remember when rugby league threads used to be about rugby league, rather than them all being dick measuring contests between you two?

  15. Magic AJ Parker

Sounds like something someone with a small dick would say.

  16. Toolman TR Man

You're more biased against RTS than Magic is biased for him.

You can't ignore Magic's argument about who his competition was. He was always going to get picked, especially when they weigh in the internationals as heavily as possible.

  17. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

    Yeah I don't think so.

Just so we have this straight before going ahead with the argument, you're saying RTS was a deserving winner?

Then I take it you're not disappointed for Thurston to win the GB?

  18. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

    Sinfield? :p

  19. Toolman TR Man

Yes my opinion is he was the deserving winner and first choice before anybody else, by far. This isn't a 'who's the best player in x position' award it's 'who was the best in 2013 in x position'.

I'm a little disappointed I guess but I don't really care lol. Would've preferred to see Burgess or SBW take it.

  20. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

lol okay then. Do you actually watch players when they don't have the ball in hand? I mean you never used to with Hayne, for example.
