And yet was still arguably the best five-eighth in the NRL. One of the best players in this year's Origin series. And one of the best players at this World Cup.

    Lucky duck.

Mini won a golden boot, lol.

Locky won 2, therefore Thurston cannot be mentioned in the same breath until he does the same.

"However, it is Hayne's defence that has most impressed Sheens and with the Blues able to call on Josh Dugan at fullback, Hayne may be ideal to mark Inglis in State of Origin. NSW last year used Josh Morris in the role."

Good grief. What defence has Hayne been asked to do against Fiji and America? And how on earth is it comparable to what he will be asked to do if tasked with marking Inglis?

lol yeah, pick Hayne at centre and Dugan at fullback. Please, please do, Loz.

You don't even have to draw the comparison of Inglis & Origin. Defending at right centre against the USA & Fiji isn't anywhere near as challenging as a regular NRL match.
Have the media forgotten about Brett Stewart?

Hayne wont be winger so it will be the centre rushing up this time and he can actually smash Inglis.

Hayne couldn't even handle marking Boyd. Inglis will make him look second rate.

Not convinced he'd do a whole lot worse than Morris in defence but he'd be 10x better in attack.

He should be fullback though, I'm over all the talk of trying to ''fit him into the side''.

    2013 Golden Boot nominees:

Cameron Smith, Cooper Cronk, Johnathan Thurston, Sam Burgess, Sonny Bill Williams, Danny Brough.

Between Smith, Thurston and Williams for mine. Hard to split them but I'd probably give it to Williams. The other two would be fitting recipients too.

I hope Williams gets it so the DT can write another article on how flawed the international awards are after he was comically overlooked at the Dally M's.

God they write some rubbish, Paul Kent on the RLIF player of the year award:
    Inbred.

    Sutton was at the WC?

Haha, such a weird reaction. Think you're just taking it a personally because it's Thurston. He explained that very well in the article:

So it wasn't an indictment on how highly or otherwise he rated Thurston or his actual performances at all. You might disagree with his rationale for picking that side but I don't think you actually disagree on match analysis terms so blowing up and telling him to eat a dick just makes you look like a fanboy.

Steve Mascord is a massive dick though, regardless of that.

lol, I might disagree with it? That rationale is fucking absurd. I don't care whether we agree on analysis. You'd have to be mentally defective to actually rate Paulo higher than Thurston at this World Cup.

If I wanted to look like a fan boy I wouldn't have come on here and said I'd probably give it to Williams.
