    Yeah, I don't think it's particularly stupid that he's qualified for the allrounder rankings.. but that he's gone from not being on the list to being 6th shows their flaws.

    It basically measures how good a player you are rather than how good an allrounder you are, as such.

    How do you calculate it? You obviously set minimum requirements for bat and ball, but then do you average the two if they qualify?

    Probably need to do something using a normal distribution so that those at the low ends in either batting or bowling are penalised to a fairly significant extent.

    Yeah. It's sqrt(battingpoints * bowlingpoints) IIRC. With minimum batting and bowling requirements to keep players like Alec (and Colesy, as it happens) from dominating it.

    Yeah, it's not something I put heaps of thought into. :p I don't even have them linked properly because I don't buy into them much. I have a lot of faith in my batting and bowling rankings but the allrounder rankings are a joke when Colesy is a better allrounder than Tyson.

    I think I've got something. Do you have a spreadsheet/file with all the players in with both batting & bowling ratings side by side?

    e.g.

    etc.

    All-rounders don't technically have to bowl in each innings though. I think Heef's method would be the best, using some sort of bell curve

    Basically, I think if you average all the bowling and batting ratings and then use this as the mean point for a normal distribution and create a multiplying factor for each rating level, you'll end up with a decent result. This way, everyone would have an all-rounder rating, but it'd be shockingly low if you're a specialist bowler or batsman.
