I've met Zimbo club players and they indicated it was easy enough to find a game over there.

What sort of side do Zambia have?

If memory serves the uncomically filthy ex-Springbok captain Corne Krige was Zambian by birth, as was George Gregan, as it goes.

Think they have the highest white population in Africa outside of SA now. They were Northern Rhodesia at one point, after all.

No clue tbh. I really should know a lot more than I do.

I am surprised if they've the highest white population aside from us, though. Would have thought Namibia pips them, for one.

This obviously comes with the standard "it's wikipedia and probably bollocks" disclaimer, but I was half right.

According to wiki they have the second highest Anglo population in Africa.

Guess Namibia has more Afrikaners than Anglos.

  5. MrPrez CM Dyer

Ah indeed. That makes a lot more sense. Namibia is an Afrikaner hotbed, hence my surprise.

Easiest group in the history of rugby world cups.

    Oh really?
You want to accuse SA of poaching foreigners?
To my knowledge Mujati is the only player who did not have SA citizenship when he represented the Boks. That has since been made illegal.
The Beast has SA citizenship and his wife is South African.

Besides, Scotland have Denton, Australia has Pocock and Godwin.
    Now that IS surprisingly many.

SA does a lot for Zim, Namibian and Kenyan rugby. These countries rugby teams are currently or have previously been included in age-grade, and semi-pro competitions.
We wouldn't see any other teams from Africa worthy of a world cup spot if not for the input of SARU.

I think Argentina are probably better than the 12th best team in the world though, realistically.

  9. Howe JHF Howe

Yeah it's actually a tougher group than B afaic.

NZ are obviously the best side there is and Argentina are better than Scotland or Samoa.

Japan/USA are tougher minnows than Georgia/Kenya but none of them will be beating anyone serious, so meh.

  10. Starris ER Starris

Easiest group but they all have nothing to lose and could injure a pile of players... I'd probably play B-Teams against all but Arg. Or al least take the opportunity to rest key players on a rotational basis.

    Damn did I say rotation!

Obviously I've not seen them play for 3 years but weren't Georgia the best of the rest at the last world cup? Isn't rugby their national sport now or something

  12. Rego RS Hutchinson

They didn't do too badly. Won 1 game and nearly beat Scotland. Didn't do too badly against England either.

  13. Roaddogg AJ Izett

is it still the quarterfinalists who automatically qualify?

    or have they changed that?

  14. Rego RS Hutchinson

Top 3 of each pool now. So 12 teams automatically qualify.

  15. Roaddogg AJ Izett

oh yeah seem to remember that now. have always wandered what theyd do about the Asian zone should japan ever host or I guess grab that third spot in their pool (doubt theyd ever get 1st or 2nd in their pool). couldn't imagine what a top tier team would do to any of the other Asian nations lol

  16. Rego RS Hutchinson

Japan's hosting the RWC in 2019.....so time will tell haha.

  17. Howe JHF Howe

They will probably give them a playoff against another continent. So long as they earn it etc

  18. Killface F van der Westhuizen

Wrong on both counts. Both Samoa and Scotland are stronger than Argentina.
Hard to tell, as these teams aren't always at full strength, but Argentina have the worst depth, based on Scotland's win in Argentina a few weeks ago.
Samoa are stronger than they have ever been, Argentina are worse than they've been since the professionalism, they struggled to replace the retirees.

  19. Killface F van der Westhuizen

It gets worse: they're likely to face France at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff in the quarters. Sound familiar?

I don't agree with that. Argentina can only either pick players for the Rugby Championship or the June tests. Their team to play Scotland was full of domestic players. Diaz, Sanchez, Cubelli and Amorosino were their only top quality players. I have no doubt that with a proper build up that Argentina would do far better than both Samoa and Scotland.
