Barrett is criminally overrated on this forum

I actually wouldn't say so. He's still clearly injured atm, not playing anywhere like he was before the injury. I dunno who's wrapped him up beyond belief tbh. If he gets his leg/ hip sorted he'll be crucial off the bench.

    Barrett is underrated.

He has always choked so far in his goal kicking however.

So you think his goalkicking is crap under pressure yet he's still underrated? I haven't seen any evidence of ability to control a game from 10 for the ABs yet...just a good running game off the bench.

Tbf he hasn't had much chance. I wanna see him playing like pre injury days in the black jersey. Would be huge.

One thing with Barrett is his goal kicking stats Super Rugby wise take a hit because home is Westpac Stadium... And as we all know it's fucking hard to kick there.

His goal kicking wasn't too bad a season or 2 ago.

    Pros and Cons of Barrett

    Pros
Immense talent - hence he is underrated
    Excellent line breaking ability
Good option taking on pass vs run vs kick decisions

    Cons
Has choked with goal kicking on the highest stage so far. Has been very good in past seasons at Super level
He can be lethargic when he receives the ball and has failed to realise that the line speed of the defensive team is faster in tests. Need to Hurry up a bit.

Conclusion - he needs a kick up the ass. But he is the future. More upside than Cruden as Barrett is potentially a better kicker.

    Looking really good so far.

Yeah loving this atm. Our back 3 looking outstanding. Big Brad completely absent so far just not needed

Connor Murray could be a huge loss if he's got concussion.

Just a precaution I think, they were just making sure he didn't miss the start of the World Cup.

Yeah, by the sounds of it. Although concussion can hang around for a bit.

2 weeks is usually enough time though. Unless it's really bad or you have a history of them - which i dont think he does?

Thought all our backs barring Farrell were pretty outstanding today. Burgess showed that, 2 early handling errors notwithstanding, he is much better option to start at 12 than Barritt. I don't think the former did anything wrong but Burgess does what he does in defence (maybe even better given the speed at which he closes down the attacker) but also offers penetration with ball in hand

My view of Tigers v Argentina today with Howe Snr.

We got stuffed really, particularly up front, and both sides were making it clear they were they to throw the ball a bit so the tries came pretty quickly. There was a point in the second half where Leicester came back really strongly and got to within four points, before Ayerza switched sides and immediately won a scrum for us, where it really looked like we were in with a shot. Great game, great atmosphere.

There was a set of 6 year old boys sat right behind us who provided loud, insightful comments such as 'go on tigers get at em'; 'hit him in the nuts' and 'i want a wee'. This was generally agreed to be superior to the work of Stuart Barnes

    Well Wales are fucked.

Yeah that's a brutal collection of injuries

The US commentary of the Australia game

They did everything they could to talk us up as much as possible. The game just makes me shake my head about how Nick Phipps ever got into the World Cup squad.

  19. Rego RS Hutchinson

    Yeah White >>>>>> Phipps

Haven't really been following the other nations but I take it Wales have no chance of passing either Australia or England and making it through.
