Darius Boyd also another one on the "better at Origin than NRL due to a different role" - subpar NRL fullback (his St George time notwithstanding), gun running off Inglis at Origin.
Buderus is the winner so far for me. To transition from halfback to hooker, at a time when they were more dissimilar than they are today, is impressive. To do it and become one of the greatest hookers and greatest defenders of all-time is stunning.
Aiden Guerra has done a pretty good job of reinventing himself from a good edge forward to an excellent lock. He was never written off but he was definitely out of favour with Boyd Cordner & SBW in front of him so he did have to reinvent himself to find a position in the side.
Idris not being great for Penrith this year is a coaching issue more than anything else. You'd appreciate him so much more if he was playing on the right.
I disagree, what does he do so well at origin level? It's mostly by created Inglis and co... He mostly just falls over the line for most of his tries... He's alright in defence, but nothing great.
He never really makes mistakes in defence or under the high ball. Also brings the ball back strongly and finishes well. Best origin winger of the past decade.
Michael Morgan has great potential for this thread but we'd need to see more. Struggled for years to get a spot in first grade as a half. Then was playing in the centres in reserve grade last year. Gets chucked into fullback due to injury to Coote and becomes one of the better fullbacks in the comp.
Yeah I remeber a game where he was playing outside Tonga and Tonga busted his shoulder early on in the game. NSW targeted Tonga by giving Gasnier early ball but Darius shut him down every time.
