Test averages shouldn't really matter ITBT, nearly everyone dominated against the NZ'ers. Plus it was 3/4 season ago.
Compare their rep averages. Their figures over the past 3 seasons are very similar. The fact that Parker is not in decline gets him over the line imo. It has to be a middle order bat though, imo. With Downpipes and Lewis adept at playing 3, and Manera able to open, a middle order bat covers all bases. Farnsworth covers all the fasties including Tyson.
Na, you're wrong. Counts for something. New Zealand were / are much better quality opposition than the nuff nuff's in BS. If you've stayed consistent since then which he has, it definitely counts for something when you are talking about who to pick out of him in Parker like we are.
Parker has had a much better batting lineup around him than Hayes. He's definitely not on the decline, but I expect such rubbish to come from you if its someone you dont like.

Gonzo had a pretty gun season, averaging 47.32 with the bat and 18.33 with the ball.
... I did! I'm sure that's a reference to something else somewhere either in this thread or else where but I'm far to stupid/lazy to figure/find out.
Nah. What happens if Wilson gets injured? Gonzo would come in for parker/ hayes and play as a speicalist bat if need be.
If Wilson got injured then you would replace him with Farny and play 4 seamers and Speirs bowling the spin.
I actually don't think it'd be that big a problem; Farny would come in and we'd have four seamers + Speirs. It's definitely a better situation than only having four bowlers, or having Tyson at 7 and Farny at 8 - which is what would happen if we didn't include another allrounder and Speirs got injured. I guess the spare bat would miss out for Gonzo but he's hardly ideal for the backing-up-Speirs role as he barely bowls at club level and he's never taken a wicket for NSW. There won't be one squad for the whole series anyway; there'll be a 14 man squad for each Test... but it would be interesting to see what we'd do if Speirs got injured. The other Provincial allrounders (Storer, Borisc, Perry, Lover, Devonshire, Deane, Laing) aren't really Test standard.. I guess we might be looking at Freddy despite the fact that he doesn't make the NSW team unless there are injuries.. or maybe even Flack.
I don't think the Miokovics are completely out of the picture if they finish the PC well. Or Luffman even if he finds his form.
