Player movements and rumours

Rumour that the Roosters just offered Todd Carney a 3 year deal, knowing who the rumour came from I'm inclined to believe there's some truth behind it.

Not sure how I feel about it to be honest. As much as I rate his ability he hasn't put in a good season since 2010.

It's potentially a great upgrade on Maloney for less money but it also puts us at risk of losing Hastings.

 

I don't think it's so much about changing him as much as Robinson believing he knows how to get him into a good place. Robinson was Assistant coach in 2010 when Carney won the Dally, then left in 2011 to go coach the Catalans. He worked pretty closely with Carney in 2010 and was the one who got Carney the Catalans deal over in the Super League for this year, I think he's got a lot of time for him as does Uncle Nick which makes it a real possibility that he might come back.

Carney himself views Sydney as his home now and would've never left if not for the fact that the NRL would've denied any contract put forward to them. Even when he was playing for the Sharks he was still living and hanging out in the Eastern Suburbs. So it honestly doesn't surprise me.

My biggest worry is all the injuries he's suffered, his running game is so crucial to his overall game that if it's non existent like it was at the Sharks for long periods I'd probably avoid signing him in all honesty. Not because of his off field issues.

 

If I was a CEO of club I'd sign him up straight away. I'd then tell him to get off social media and that if ever he felt the urge to do something stupid to give me a call and I'd get a high class hooker to his joint straight away.
