Everyone in here bar GWS suggestions have been the posters own team. Should ignore them, it's just patriotic bullshit. It's the suggestions of clubs from people who don't follow them that deserve more weighting, IMO

I third GWS. a lot of likeable players on and off the field, nice colours, a huge future, in need of fans and probably represent Canberra more than others.

North are a nice club too.

if you are willing to go through some tough losses, but knowing that they will have a great future, go with the GWS

Is there a particular club jumper you like?

    Fremantle Pro's:
*Established club with minimal success, no chance of bandwagoning jibes
*When they fail it is expected, when they succeed it's a huge high, therefore you are never disappointed
*No one looks bad in purple
*Matthew Pavlich, Clive Waterhouse, Dion Woods
*By supporting Freo you aren't associating yourself with normal Victorian bogan rif raf that seem to be behind nearly every other AFL club. You'd join an elite class of human being, with names like Sultan Pepper and Tadeauz avid Freo fans
*I will pay for and post you a Balinese Fremantle jersey by years end
*They've never made a grand final
*Fremantle is a really nice place

    Freo Negatives
    *Sandilands is injured a lot

I'm supporting Hawthorn. They've been doing a lot for AFL in NZ lately and they have a cool looking bird logo and some players I've heard of.

GWS colours are awful. They've picked the wrong orange. Great uniform if you want to go out cycling in the dark, but otherwise lame.

Also, they're gonna have to work on getting the Manuka Oval humming. The gate entry was an absolute farce there on Saturday. Queues taking 45+ minutes to get in through the gates as they had only two staff on each gate. We arrived there half an hour before kick off and missed half the first quarter. Farcical.

Emm makes a great point here though.

Where does Carlton fit in the grand scheme of things? Are they hated or liked or people don't give a shit?

Only AFL game I've ever been to was Carlton vs Hawthorn so have sorta followed Carlton ever since.

Carlton aren't well liked, but they're not universally hated like Collingwood. Would be a top 4 hated club though, mainly due to their success over the years.

Blues are depressing, don't go for them.

    What Mousey said.

Freo really do have it all, they're a club most people like, with an element of hate mixed in with the little man syndrome that is Ballantyne.

They're the universal underdogs and have always managed to sign the who's who of players. Names like Bell, Farmer and Headland are etched forever in Aussie rules folk lore.

Would it achieve anything to send a whinge to the AFL?

not the afl's fault, it's the ground's and maybe the govt's fault. happened for the odi played here too.

Played on Manuka as a kid at half time of a dogs v Port game(iirc), would've only been 10k odd there and even then it was a fucked up wait to get in.

Yeah, but if I whinged to the AFL about how I'd gone over there to see St Kilda as they're heading over to Wellington for a game, then given that these Canberra games are presumably a bit of a way to grow the game in South NSW, I can't imagine the AFL would be too impressed. Might give the event organisers a boot up the arse about it?

    Wow, that's terrible.
