NRL.com Predicts Round 1 Lineups

  1. Julian BJ Taylor

The older all the 'stars' at Melbourne get, the more intrigued I am by their first grade squad.

I reckon they've bought pretty well and I'm actually really keen to see what happens with their five-eighth selections. Blake Green is a really safe option, he can step in and play to the system no sweat, but Nona sort of stands out as the most creative ball player not currently in the NRL and could add another dimension to their attack a la Widdop. Weirdly they also re-signed Ben Hampton mid season too. I don't really rate him that highly but it's odd they made the move to keep him.

Hampton also covers FB though and Slater will miss at least 5-6 games a season to Rep footy and injuries.

  3. Alec AD Funkotron

Cameron Munster is their future fullback IMO, at least atm. They might see Hampton as a half.

Panthers probably pretty close, although I'm pretty sure Taylor will be back row, Docker starting and Cartwright or Peach bench.

Also would t be totally shocked to see us take a hooker option on the bench for the first few rounds. Seggy didn't quite look an 80 minute player last year and I dare say he'll battle through the early rounds, although I guess Brown can fill in there for 10-15.

Fair enough...but he did have a good 2014 season.
How he back up next year will tell the story, I guess.

  6. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

Didn't you guys sign that blacky hooker from Souths?

  7. Mr Chook MR Chook

Blake Ferguson could be in there, most likely in front of Macdonald. Hoping Hastings finds a utility bench spot.

  8. Benny BS Read

    Korisau and Segayaro combo imo

  9. Benny BS Read

    I want to see

    Inglis
    Johnston
    Turner
    Walker
    Goodwin
    Keary
    Reynolds
    Gurgess
    Luke
    Grant
    Sutton
    Stewart
    Clark

    Lowe (McInnes)
    Turgess
    Tyrell
    McQueen

Really wish we'd kept Api. Would prefer using Clark there for a couple of ten minute spells with the likes of Lowe and Tyrell to play minutes in the middle third. McQueen can spell Sutton or Stewart to keep them fresh and covers backline injuries as an extra bonus.

    Mosley is a jet too

  11. Julian BJ Taylor

all the more appropriate that he was signed by the jetstar Titans.

I am hopeful that the Cows lineup as below. If they do I think we're a huge show:
    1. Morgan
    2. Winterstein
    3. Linnett
    4. Wright
    5. Feldt
    6. Coote
    7. Thurston
    8. Scott
    9. King
    10. Hannant
    11. Cooper
    12. Lowe
    13. Taumololo
    14. Tamou
    15. Hall
    16. Bolton
    17. Granville

I think faith has to be put into Cameron King and Jake Granville as the hooking combo. My only concern is that right edge without Tate.

  13. Magic AJ Parker

Yeh a right edge of Coote/Wright or Moga/Feldt would be all kinds of lols

  14. jazman84 JM Eightyfour

I want to see more of Feldt in top grade though, if only to see his drop-outs.

  15. Ged GEC King

If he can learn to stay on his wing and trust his centre in defense, or alternatively become a centre, I think he has a lot of potential because he's very good attacking wise.

  16. Cribbage RG Cribb

His handling is as big a problem as his defence IMO.

  17. Ged GEC King

Yeah. That thought came across me after posting that. He is the sort of player who's worst and best performance are miles apart. I suppose what I was trying to get across is that he has the talent and is young still.

  18. Flack SA Flack

I doubt Coote will start as #6. If he hangs around, they might bring him in if the 7. Lui, 6. Thurston thing doesn't work out so well.

  19. Alex AJ O'Driscoll

Yeah rate that Turner at centre idea and Clark deserves first shot at lock. I'd probably keep Tyrrell starting and make Grant work for his spot in the starting side. Really looking forward to see how Stewart outside Reynolds will help him develop, he was always really strong down the flank for Manly.

  20. jazman84 JM Eightyfour

Broncos appear to be coming together nicely.

    1. Darius Boyd
    2. Dale Copley
    3. Jack Reed
    4. Justin Hodges
    5. Daniel Vidot
    6. Anthony Milford
    7. Ben Hunt
    8. Josh McGuire
    9. Andrew McCullough
    10. Corey Parker
    11. Alex Glenn
    12. Sam Thaiday
    13. Adam Blair

    14. Matt Gillett
    15. James Gavet
    16. Corey Oates
    17. Mitch Garbutt
