    Just pointing out that Gold Coast are already in a fragile situation, Nth QLD will never be able to afford an increase in the salary cap and when News Limited leave the game next year the Storm and Broncos will also be looking for new cash streams. Canberra struggle even now to use the whole salary cap.

    It's not just the struggling NSW teams, like you seem to think it is.

    Then charge the TV deal much higher this time around. The NRL is made for TV, whereas the AFL is much better watched live.

    Which they will be, but the rights aren't up again until 2012.

    It's likely we'll get double the current deal and it'll be pretty much the same as what AFL get. Will be a massive boost.

    Furner's words, said that they struggle to find third party sponsors because they're in a state dominated by Government jobs. If a club is struggling to get 3rd party deals then where are they going to get the extra money from for a salary cap increase which even he said himself.

    To be honest I don't know a whole lot about the Raiders backing but the proposed changes to the salary cap for next year were opposed by Furner. Not the extra cash but 3rd party deals which already are part of the current cap. Which is more what I was getting at...
