    This Sporting Life gets 100% on Rotten T.

    Not surprising. Superb depiction of a Northern rugby league player who is basically a complete brute on and on the field. Outstanding performance by Richard Harris.

    Indeed. It's English new wave (i.e. it's not really about the sport). It's a very high quality kitchen sink type drama (c.f. Saturday Night and Sunday Morning, A Kind of Loving etc.)

    Basically, there's no guarantee that you'll like it but it is a very good film which stars Richard Harris - one of the greatest actors of the 20th century.
