Julian's NRL Predictions Circa 2011

  1. Julian BJ Taylor

    Team: Parramatta Eels

    Predicted Finish: 16th

    Best Team:

    Eels

    1 Jarryd Hayne
    2 Luke Burt
    3 Chris Walker
    4 Joel Reddy
    5 Chris Hicks
    6 Daniel Mortimer
    7 Jeff Robson
    8 Fui Fui Moi Moi
    9 Matt Keating
    10 Justin Poore
    11 Nathan Hindmarsh
    12 Justin Horo
    13 Shane Shackleton

    14 Casey McGuire
    15 Carl Webb
    16 Ben Smith
    17 Tim Mannah
    18 Tom Humble
    19 Manase Manakaofoa
    20 Anthony Mitchell

    Breakout Player:
    Tom Humble

    Best Buy: Casey McGuire

    Strengths:
They've got a good front row rotation, especially if Webb gets back near his best. They've got shitloads of depth in the three quarters...but it looks to me that they're pretty much all wingers. They'll have good go forward and Hindmarsh and Horo will contrast well in the backrow. Hayne is a freak. Clutching at straws from here on in.

Weaknesses: Worst set of halves in the NRL by the length of the straight. You may say they're countered by Hayne but they used to struggle when they were countered by Hayne and Mateo and now Mateo's gone. They've lost their best half from last year's squad (Keating) and replaced him with no-one, just like Mateo. Their hookers have potential but compared to the rest of the comp are mediocre at best. In Mitchell and Humble there is some talent but I doubt they'll be used correctly and they're definitely not good enough at this point to be the focal point of an NRL attack. The backrow has some decent players but on a whole is rather mediocre as well. And Mortimer. Mortimer, Mortimer, Mortimer.

Won't even look like making the eight.

    Sincerely, Mr. Eightyseven.

I hate these threads, no one ever finishes them.

I've written all my top squads up already. Will be more concise than usual (the write ups).

Just need to work out the order in which I think they'll finish and stick to it. 16th was an obvious choice for mine so I posted it straight away.

I can't really be fucked to finish mine. The ladder is too hard to organise :p

I can't get over how shit the Parra team is at full strength.

  6. Cribbage RG Cribb

    They've signed Whatuira as well.

  7. Julian BJ Taylor

    He's shit though IMO.

  8. Cribbage RG Cribb

Haha yeah, he's a centre though at least. He's really the only genuine centre they have at the club.

  9. Wilson SB Wilson

He's a better centre than Chris Walker.

  10. Alec AD Funkotron

Must be pretty shitty recruitment if Casey McGuire is your best buy.

Anthony Mitchell should be in the team afaic.

  12. Farhat AM Farhat

Not really concerned. People tipped us to come last in 09.

  13. Magic AJ Parker

Loko to be their breakthrough player.

    Maitua comes back mid-season too...

Don't reckon they'll win the spoon purely because of their 'honey moon period' in the first few weeks but yeh looking at that side on paper it's massivley unbalanced.

Surprised Brad Murray didn't get a run last night, Mortimer pretty much played halfback for the majority of the game too.

  14. GYR DW Lewis

    Shack for Dally M.

  15. SM MD Dorn

I reckon Anthony Mitchell might have a decent enough year. Get Humble into the halves IMO

    I finished mine cunt :velho:

  17. Flack SA Flack

    Parra signed Whatz?!?!?!?!?!? Cunts!

  18. Hunter AD Hunt

    And Hicks. CUNTS.

  19. Flack SA Flack

Yeah I knew about hicks.... They want to be the early-mid 2000s Penrith side, obviously. They'll sign Satts out of retirement soon.

  20. Cribbage RG Cribb

Yep, Parramatta have certainly addressed their problem of not having enough outside backs on the wrong side of 30. They'll really lift the team.
