Aware it's bait but I'll take it anyway I wasn't defending rapists. Milne isn't a rapist - not until he's found guilty in a court of law. That's my point. It's not for the public to pass judgement before the courts, otherwise why not just have anarchy. If Milne's found guilty - then yeah, he's a rapist and can GAGF. WRT doping - i just think that the essendon blokes are in a really unfortunate situation. With Warnie and those things, there wasn't much to say his whole mum line wasn't just an excuse - it seems pretty obvious the essendon blokes were deceived here. Yeah, they could have checked it out - so they deserve some sort of punishment - stripping of points and picks perhaps, but not a ban themselves; they just trusted those in authority and that they were good and honest people. Now they're all fucked as a result due to the ASADA having no mercy or compassion.
It works both ways though - I read earlier in an article that 95% of athletes caught doping blame someone else. If there's any sort of leniency, you're going to open a can of worms. If you don't take random injections, you're sweet. It's pretty simple.
I just don't rate him as highly as others. I am just shocked at how lenient the AFL is on such an important issue
Obviously you didn't read the post where I said the club should lose premiership points and draft picks..
He should be stood down until the results come through though. Would you like a guy who has been charged with rape working at your workplace? Should a guy charged with having child pornography be allowed to continue working as a school teacher while his case is heard?
isn't it womens' round this week? would be a great look having an accused/charged rapist running around during that...
It's a tricky situation. I feel kinda cold by saying 'tough luck' to the players, yet I feel that it's what should happen assuming that the drugs that they were taking were illegal at the time. Even though it's a lot different to other doping cases.
KK kicking goals right the way through this thread, only minor slip up: But that's a whole other issues.
Why the idea behind strict liability I believe is a good one and why I think the players should also be in shit as well. "It appears to be a laudable policy objective not to repair an accidental unfairness to an individual by creating an intentional unfairness to the whole body of other competitors. This is what would happen if banned performance-enhancing substances were tolerated when absorbed inadvertently"
