What would happen if they lose draft picks and their players get suspended in the off-season? Forfeit 2014?

  2. PaulFromOz PF Oz

Maybe, AFL might let them play ressies.

Just draft VFL guys, delist them after the season.

  4. MatthewJay TA Miokovic

They'd be allowed to play 2014 if they copped 6-month bans. Just wouldn't be able to do pre-season together.

AFL would let them draft VFL guys, TV stations paid for 9 games a week.

  5. MASTERS S Masters

come on AFL, take there draft picks away, points, Jerbs brownlow and fine them 1 MILLION DOLLARS

Masters has spoken. Expect these actions from the AFL in the coming days.

    Broken collarbone for Jobe.

Expect to see him run out next week.

Will come back twice as strong next week.

    Evans out.

    We want Hird next.

    Lol, nah.

I just hate this so much honestly. Hird stays, players don't get banned and I'm happy. But it's looking so likely that neither will happen.

So they took PEDs, willingly or not, and you think they should get off? Awesome.

I want them to get off.

For the good of the league, the game and the fans I certainly hope there's a case for them to get off.

For the good of the game they should cop a flogging tbh

This is in no way true, it is not for the good of the game this happens, if it happens it is because it is right and just not because it helps AFL as a game in any way at all.

It'd help the AFL as it'd deter other clubs from doing the same/claiming the same in the future.

Nah, it wouldn't make any difference. The rules will remain the rules and every club will still do anything they think they can get away with within the rules in order to get every possible advantage in order to win. The punishment dished out won't act as a deterrent at all. Especially against the whole, I didn't think it was against the rules argument, if it improves a team and it isn't against the rules why would a team not do it?

If it is illegal you punish it because that's what you should do, but you shouldn't be so nieve to think that this will stop teams looking to take any advantage that they think that they can get away with.

Setting examples only works against cases where everyone knows clearly that they are doing the wrong thing and they do it anyway.

They're not going to think they can get away with it if they dish out the proper punishment

Clubs are going to think you can get away with it if they give out a piss poor punishment that means nothing

The deterrent is certainly the punishment. It's the way society works. People and corporations make risk assessments. What is the downside, what is the potential upside? What are the chances I get caught?

Hird has to be sacked surely?

Playing group is a different matter. Shouldn't get the same amount of time that doping should normally get at least. I'll explain when I have more time.
