Tighe next to Walsh isn't a great idea... Even though it's better than Purtell. We'd have too of our smaller weaker players defending together and Walsh makes bad reads and Tighe isn't a noted defener exactly... We should put Nathan Smith in there or Michael Gordon... Two players who have strength, can make a tackle and read plays decently.
Yeah we should be able to from now in. I think the Sharks game won't be easy though seeing as it will be Barrett's last game. It does now Lukic. I haven't really thought about it because last season he was pretty ordinary there. Tighe is a better reader at defence though and is quicker than Purtell which gives him that benefit. I agree about moving Gordon there next season but wouldn't move him there this year. Would finish any grand final aspirations Penrith might have tbh.
Tighe is better than Purtell, but everyone in our squad is better than Purtell, was my point basically. We need a strong defender defending next to Walsh as he is probbaly the next weakest defender in the team. Smith, Lewis or Gordon are the best options. We could move Smith to play lock if Lewis went back to centre as well.
Not Smith only because of the attacking side of things. I would put Gordon there but I don't think we are desperate enough to move him yet. Would be too big a change. Tighe marked Gasnier up pretty well when he played in the centres. Would rather he played there for the duration of this season.
Just don't think it would be the right move. I would rather him Tighe than Smith. I am not worried too much about defence. Tighe is good enough to defend where he does and makes really good reads in defence. Do you remember him last year?
Its the attack but that I am not keen on. Penrith have always been an attacked based side. Moving Cooper or Smith there would stiffle Penrith's attack.
Purtell > attacker than Smith or Cooper in the centres. I support Tighe there tbh. I don't really support anyone else moving there.
Purtell > No one in attack, he's slow, he doesn't break the line on his own, he can't kick for shit (proven today), he doesn't have a habit of setting up his winger.... So what exactly are we losing by moving ANYONE there, attacking-wise?
That is something I forgot to mention in my original post. Why the **** did he keep kicking it!? When the halves choose to run it the whole team has to stick with that.
