I wouldn't be against a system where a player can be bumped up in "meaningless" games to see what they've got, however, if the player they replace is fit to play then they must play 2nds.

However, just because a game is meaningless for 1 team, it may not be for another, or even 2 or 3 if full strength squads aren't picked.

How do you figure that when you haven't played a single FC match? :p

Ok, so maybe the 1st class part doesn't apply, but my performances are definitely following that trend. If I handled my bump up the order better, I would have played firsts by now, I have no doubts about that... Hopefully I can force my way in next season.

    Beat it Hunter.

The abundance of AR's in our side and the fact you've got some SC experience meant you've been relied upon like a main bat almost for us. You've done well considering IMO.

I have a basic question. As I understand it (correct me if I am wrong), simming average is dependant on 4 factors, namely
    1. Talent (random/luck/random+luck part),
    2. Development (past performance),
    3. Practice (activity),
    4. Experience (swpr).

Then how is the 'career progression' thing important? Is that a 5th factor or something? Or, is it linked to point no. 2 (development/past performance)? Or, am I completely missing the point?

I don't really rate my bowling at all TBH so I'd rather you refer to me as a main bat who can bowl a bit :P

I read it that career progression is a factor that will vary depending on how many games and seasons you have played, as well as your performances at certain times throughout your career.

For example, look at Ian Bell from when he started playing test cricket.
He'd have a close to maximum talent.
Fairish Practice in the fact he made runs in his 1st test series.
    No development.
    No experience.

We all know he was a shunt in his fledgling years, however he looked great while shunting it.

However, as his experience, practice and development increased, he has become the batsman he is today. This is his career progression. If graphed, it would look something like this: /

However Michael Clarke's would look something like this: \_/

Career progression is what will prevent someone from always improving and someone being shit and getting shitter.

The whole career progression thing is largely just a change to how past performances are calculated. It is also a factor within its own in higher standard matches though.

I probably shouldn't equate SWPR with experience either, because experience itself (ie. games played) is a factor in how past performance is calculated. SWPR should probably be equated with technical work or something.

Loving the idea of career progression for obvious reasons.

Cricsim ability should have some relation to gunness too imo, moreso than spam count.

This pretty much the story of my career. My stats to confirm.

Got thrown into FC after 3 SC games. Had a relatively good debut season. Was even on the verge of the NSW side. Then fell away completely in my 2nd season. And now I'm slowly working my way back up to a decent batsman, and playing for Souths along the way.

Compared to me who came into the BS arguably prematurely (6 games in SC) and started out well and continued to dominate.

So does this means I'm going to be better?

Missed this. Good to see the changes, it's always been a worry of mine that I wasn't selecting to the rules when I'm selecting what I think is best for my team.
