No? I usually get down for the last 20 mins of Toyota Cup and don't drink at all, with whoever comes. Ended up with about 8 of us this arvo, which is alright but we had 25 for the 1st game of the season.
Watching it on TV gives you better views most of the time, it's comfortable, you don't have dicks yelling in your ears and you see replays etc better. Sure the commentary is pretty balls, but I can put up with it. Though Leichhardt is pretty epic and close by, I'd probably attend just about every game bar rain @ Leichhardt.
I've only ever been to 1 rugby league game in my life. Pre-season trial between the Sharks and Cowboys in Mackay in 2003 (?). Sharks got beat by 30 odd. There was so many fights, on-field with the players and spectators in the crowds.
I'm with Flack on this one, I prefer watching league on TV, you see the game better. I've enjoyed going to games in the past but I wouldn't make a habit of going every time. When I do go to the footy, 95% of the time it is with The Raiders Army and I've seen the good and the bad. Been sober and been fall down drunk. But some behaviour I have seen and then seen covered up pretty much ruined the RA (only a member or two) for me and I haven't been since early this season. The majority are a good bunch, but they stand in the shittest part of the ground where you can see SFA. And then I'm the same as Flack in this regard too, none of my really good mates are that into footy/sport. One of them is and we have been to the cricket a few times, but the majority of them are musos and we'd rather catch a gig for $10 at an ok pub compared to $20 for the football normally in the ass end of nowhere with overpriced food, drinks and parking (if there even is any)
Yeah. It's just such an effort for me. To go to a Broncos game means an hr each way in the car plus another half hr getting on public transport to the game. Then it's not as good as watching at home anyway unless you're in the **** off good seats.
I make no secret that I support Qld first. I support teams depending on their player personel and style of play. In short, you're a faggot.
To go to a live game for me would be 6 hour drive north to Townsville or a 10-12 hour drive south to Brisbane. That's my closest options.
I walk about 15 mins to Brookie, poor guys. In complete lol news, this american exchange student we got hangin with us at the moment took an hour to walk 2 mine from his homestay house when he coulda walked it in like 30 if he didn't go the long way or 10 mins by bus if he had asked for directions.
I've only been too... Penrith Vs Warriors 2001 (Rd21) Newcastle Vs Penrith 2003 Pre-Season Penrith Vs Brisbane 2003 (Rd1) Cronulla Vs Penrith 2003 (??) Newcastle Vs Penrith 2003 (??) Penrith Vs Titans 2006 (??) A few more as a youngster I don't remember, and I think I'm missing one other from post 2003. (2007 I think)
Yeah look it really depends on the person. I can understand why people prefer to watch it on television and I hate it how people call others fake supporters or whatever just because they don't go to games. It is always generally a geographical issue plus the fact that they charge 20 bucks just to get in as you said. Personally, I hate watching games on television, I just hate sitting there confined to a couch and watching the game happen on a little box. I personally enjoy going to home games and travelling to away games (where the distance is not plane required) because I enjoy the entire day of travelling/watching us lose (the occasional win always makes it that much sweeter and that much more worth it) and giving it to the players/referees/crowd/idiot security staff in person. Whenever we play the Warriors/Melbourne/Cowboys, those are generally the only 3 games I watch on television during the year, I hate it.
I haven't been to a Penrith game since '05, only Penrith game I've ever been too, seen a few other games over the years though.
