Has your Origin team changed after that series?

Which is the the exact same thing Soward has done but with less support, and more than Mullen has done.

  2. Wilson SB Wilson

Soward has been for a longer period of time mind you. Mullen maybe hasn't pulled out the greatness like the other two have, but he's put in more consistent above standard performances than Campese has. It's always the same excuses with you ****s.

    ie. Tonie Carroll #2

    AMIRITE?!

Lockyer is one, Thurston is 2.

Nah I don't. I just don't think Wilson understands the role of the NSW five-eighth as they play. If Campese had have played with Kimmorley on Wednesday the result would have been very similar, or even better because he wouldn't have gone missing in defence like Barrett did.

The other thing with Mullen is that he has played the majority of the season with one shoulder.

Every five-eighth who plays in an ordinary team has 'Campo 09' kind of form.

Look at Soward every year before this, look at Roberts for Canterbury before this year and look at Lockyer this year.

Agree with all of this. Thing is if Soward has to play five-eighth, he has to try and nullify Hodges. Campese did it perfectly, Barrett struggled. Soward is hidden in defence at NRL level. You can't hide someone on the fringes against: Folau, Hodges, Inglis and Tate/Boyd.

That's wrong though. I know by your opinion of certain Canberra players that you don't watch all of their games, or even the majority of them. Campese was Canberra's best half and player all year last year, even when Carney was at halfback. He has had a few off games this year too, but the problem lies with the rest of the team, not him.

Any five-eighth will struggle with Herbert at 7 and Buttriss at 9.

Campese has been as good as Barrett this year...

Mullen has been about the same as well, whilst playing injured, which says something.

And it's always the same oversights with you.

Could have sworn you were shaping up for a Carroll there.

Anyway..... form will come into it, but, bolded, presuming fitness would be certanties in my team:

    1 Kurt Gidley
    2 Jarryd Hayne
    3 Matt Cooper
    4 MIchael Jennings/Josh Morris/Jamal Idris/?
    5 Brett Morris/Joel Monaghan/Michael Gordon
6 Trent Barrett/Todd Carney (Only a matter of time if he gets back, IMO)
    7 Brett Kimmorley
    8 MIchael Weyman
    9 MIchael Ennis
    10 Justin Poore
    11 Nathan Hindmarsh
    12 Ben Creagh
    13 Anthony Watmough

    14 Craig Wing
    15 Tom Learoyd Lahrs
    16 Brett White
    17 Paul Gallen

  8. Wilson SB Wilson

Think Soward would be just fine if you had Cooper as the centre and picked the correct second rowers.

  9. Wilson SB Wilson

    Morris was rubbish.

  10. Cribbage RG Cribb

I assume you'd be defending Hindmarsh at lock to start the game?

Watmough was awesome in attack in Game III but defending him at lock was always a retard move and the jersey grabbing **** missed seven tackles.

  11. Cribbage RG Cribb

Yeah, who was the stupid **** whinging when he wasn't the one called in for Game II when Jennings pulled out again... ? :p

  12. Wilson SB Wilson

He still > Monaghan as a centre, tbf.

  13. Julian BJ Taylor

    Who cares?

He smashed ****s and put pressure on by running out of the line trying to hurt people.

He was like Gallen, if Gallen wasn't a shit ****.

  14. Julian BJ Taylor

    Nah.

MOnaghan in a beaten team in game 2 > Morris. No bias, I like both the Morris boys but Morris is even more a winger than Monaghan IMO.

  15. Wilson SB Wilson

Probably, I just really don't rate Monaghan.

Yeah, because Monaghan missed/"incompleted" five tackles per game in his two Origin games in the centres.....

Morris may have more raw potential than Monaghan (and I think even that's pretty debatable, but it's a fair enough thing to say) but if you look up "purple patch selection" in the dictionary, you'll see his photo (and Antonio Kaufusi's). He was playing in the local 'Gong comp for about a quarter of last year and was terrible in general for half of the season whenever he had a crack at first grade. He finally strung a few fluky games together and landed himself a Dogs contract, and now he's been lucky enough to stand in the centres for one of the best teams in the competition, finishing off simple plays and having people ooo and arr because he's big, strong, fast and plays in the backs for a top four team. He has virtually no ball skills at all, has hands like zebra feet and for someone with a reasonably good defensive technique, finds himself in the wrong spot a hell of a lot.

He's a player with some potential, but he's only quite recently convinced me he should be in first grade every week. He's not an Origin player's arsehole.

Monaghan's no star in the centres but he's solid and you know what you're going to get. The experience and general decision-making abilities he has over Morris are huge, let alone his bomb-contesting and ability to actually throw a pass to his winger that isn't completely telegraphed for ten minutes before he lets the bastard go.

Blokes like David Williams and Josh Morris just aren't special enough to pick on such little established first grade experience. If you get an Inglis then yeah, sure, but they're no Inglises. Williams in particular is someone I think could have been Origin standard in the future if we actually let him get the requisite first grade experience to improve his game first, but now we've probably ruined the guy for life.

Soon I think we'll have to replace NSW with Victoria. Victoria is a shit state atm, but I still reckon they'd put up a bigger fight than NSW.

Got to feel for Hindmarsh, as far as I was concerned that second row spot was his until Watmough produced that game III. Still wouldn't be against having him in there for Gallen pending Gallens form. I'd be very frustrated but not surprised to see O'Donnell there again.

As for the halves I'd be inclined to have Mullen at 5/8th with Barrett/Kimmorley at half, if players like Soward, Campese or even Pearce found form I wouldn't be totally against having any of them partnering Barrett/ Kimmorley in the halves.

Looks as though the golden era of Wallacia is over, I'd be surprised to see him there ever again.

I think the key to setting NSW up for the future is to get one of the younger guys in the halves with either Kimmorley or Barrett, I'd personally prefer Barrett, however with an unprecendted 5th origin on the line I would be happy with Kimmorley/Barrett in the halves after there performances in game 3 this year.
