Grand Final: Test Eagles vs Hawks LIVE!!!! @ ANZ Stadium!!!

Update - 5th minute: The Hawks get ready to kick off once again after that try. Shriram puts the ball on the tee, the referee blows his whistle and Shriram smashes it downfield………oh he has smashed it alright….HE HAS SMASHED IT OUT ON THE FULL! What a dreadful start this is for the Hawks and the Test Eagles will get a penalty on halfway! Unbelievable! Nothing is going right for the Hawks here! Jacobs looks to get on with it and he kicks it downfield and all of a sudden the Test Eagles are 30 metres out with a chance to blow this game wide open! It’s tapped and as the crowd roars it comes to a charging Lewis….WHO GETS SMASHED BY THE DEFENSE! He gets straight back up and plays it 23 out from the line. It comes to Armstrong who looks to work it in the middle of the field, he is taken down 18 out now. It comes to James who throws it wide to Jacobs…Jacobs throws it to Laing….who throws it wide to Boy….boy to Funkotron….Funkotron draws the man….throws it to Bots..WHO ALMOST TOUCHES THE SIDELINE! But he manages to stay in. 2nd tackle, it comes back to Funkotron…HE CHARGES AT THE LINE!! But he is short! 3rd tackle, Bots throws it to James…who throws it to Laing who throws it wide to Jacobs….they have numbers here if they can get it wide!! Jacobs throws it over the top to Parker…Parker to Boy…BOY…BOY WITH SPACE…HE HAS AN OVERLAP HERE…BOY CHARGES AT THE CORNER…….IT’S 3 ON 1 HERE!!! BOY WITH THE PASS….NO HE DUMMIES AND BOY DOESN’T NEED THEM BECAUSE HE HAS SCORED!!! BOY HAS SCORED ANOTHER TRY FOR THE TEST EAGLES WHO HAVE INDEED BLOWN THIS GAME WIDE OPEN! Another try and unbelievably to the Hawks players and to the excitement of the Test Eagles faithful, it’s 16-0 with a kick to come after just 6 minutes!

Funkotron looks to make it 18-0, it is the hardest of the night so far. 5 metres in from touch, he strikes it…..but its hooked away and the score remains 16-0! Well it is early days but you have to start asking if the Hawks can come back from this! One more try and it could be game over already!

 

5 minutes in and the Hawks defense just isn't there atm...

 

Update – 8th minute: Well nothing is going the way of the Hawks here, they need something to get their confidence back up! Right now they aren’t going very far and this set is just another example as after 3 tackles they are still just 30 metres out. It comes back to Wilson who throws it wide to Tyson who looks to just charge it forward. Not much enthusiasm in this play at the moment. Wilson gets the ball…he scoots and looks to get the markers offside…..AND HE DOES! It’s a penalty to the Hawks as Hunt was deemed to be offside at marker and the Hawks will finally have their first chance to score! This is exactly what they needed! Can they lift from here? Taylor kicks it downfield quickly….A GREAT KICK! It lands 35 out and here we go! The Hawks fans can start to feel it! It’s tapped and given to a barnstorming Miokovic…..pumping those legs he charges at the defense…passed the 30….STILL GOING IS MIOKOVIC! And they finally are able to bring him down 22 metres out! A great run! Taylor comes in now and he charges it forward….he gets passed the 20 and now they are just 15 out! This is more like it from the Hawks! It comes to Wilson who throws it to Taylor….MIOKOVIC CHARGES THROUGH! But Taylor uses him as a decoy….NO HE PASSED IT TO HIM!! MIOKOVIC BARGES THROUGH….MIOKOVIC TO THE TRY LINE…..HE IS MET BY THE FULLBACK….BUT HE PLANTS THE BALL DOWN AND MIOKOVIC SCORES FOR THE HAWKS!! The Hawks have hit back with a blockbusting run by Miokovic! A brilliant very late short ball by Taylor to him and with the amount of speed on that run, no one was going to stop him! It’s 16-4 with a kick to come.

Shriram with the conversion, he didn’t have the greatest game with the boot in the semi final and will look to redeem himself with a kick about 8 metres to the left of the uprights. He strikes it…AND IT HITS THE POST AND IT MISSES! Well that is not a good start from him and the score remains 16-4. It doesn’t matter though because the Hawks have started to show what they are capable of!
