    Frankly, Smith's not very good anymore. Your ridiculous performance in the trial and much greater potential makes you a much better pick. I seriously don't think much is expected of you though - you're the eighth best batsman in the team and the fifth best bowler.. you just fit the balance of the team well as you bowl spin and have shown some real potential as a batsman. Callum's BS season essentially allows the team to have a luxury position - someone to pick just to round off the team who there isn't a lot of pressure on to do a certain job but might do something unexpected and pull the team out of the fire. Like Shri's role for the Stingrays this season.

    Of course there was the option to just pick Zakaron or something, but not only would that remove some variety from the attack, but it'd then leave you with the fifth best bowler in the team batting ten. Picking Dafter would leave Short, a specialist batsman, as the fifth bowler, and Nova is just dire. Callum having more serious claim to a batting spot doesn't make you a bad pick.

    Yeah, I just feel wasted. Not being given a real opportunity with the bat and I'm not going to do anything with the ball regardless of how man opportunities I'm given :p
    It's why I'm not as excited because I just feel like the spare tyre, only playing because we need an 11th player :laugh:.

    Still think I should be batting 7 though. Having me in the team isn't a bad selection. Just I don't think that batting me at 8 is making the most of what we have in the XI/

    So every debutant should bat at XI? Then eventually as they prove they're good they should work their way up to opening?

    Well, if you go out there while Callum's in, run him out with a dodgy call straight away, then hit up 15, and then run out Farny, Whicker and Blunder with more dodgy calling. You'll finish on 15* and it'll give your position much more leverage. :p

    But why? None of your reasons really stand up.

    It seems like your just saying " I wanna bat there cuz..."

    It's been shown already, Callum has scored more runs he has hit more hundreds he has had a season in the BS, whilst you have shown the potential to be better the opportunity and performances haven't come yet.

    To give you the opportunity at Rep level would be naive, would you seriously take a county second team batting allrounder shove him in the England side and say, sorry Broad but he's might be better than you at some point?

    Swann bats above Broad for Notts. Go figure.

    Wouldn't see a county 2nd XI allrounder anywhere near the England XI either. Go figure.

    Say what you want but Callum hasn't done well for GB, he hasn't done well at 7. He has done exceptionally well at 8.
