Gamblers to be renamed to Tryhards XI

    At least the Gamblers actually stand for something. Most of the other clubs are completely interchangeable and that's why we see so much player movement.

    I can see the truth in this. I wouldn't say you can encapsulate the whole team as tryhards...the majority of the first team have nothing to prove. It's just the fringe BS/ALC players that this applies to IMO.

    That's kind of the point. They're portraying the idea that they stand for something, but do they really, or are they actually just trying to distinguish themselves from the Rays this season or the Clones the season before?...

    I'm not particularly for or against the Gamblers, just putting it out there.

    I hate you in a 'rivals' kind of way rather than actually hating the concept. You give me a team to hate, which is actually good.

    In some ways you're the polar opposite of the Ravens... but in many ways you're exactly the same as the Ravens. You're forming a team full of like-minded people who all have something vaguely in common, rather than just patching together a random bunch of guys to play for the same team. You're looking to sign personalities before playing talent, too.

    Still not totally convinced by this concept. I think it's quite naive to think that the two teams next season that supposedly sign based on personality will just happen to be the two strongest teams in terms of playing talent, in all likelihood.

    I don't think the Ravens will look particularly good on paper next season, or in fact any season in our history other than Season 6. We played above our weight last season IMO - we had a team that probably should have finished third and won it due to good selection, luck with injuries and Perry's awesome innings in the final. We've never really looked terrible but as far as squads on paper go, we probably should have only really challenged in the season we signed Wilson, and we didn't even win then.

    We knock back players better than those who we intend to play in first grade, too - all the time, in fact.

    The fact of the matter is, though, when you get a reputation as a good club that's hard to break into, lots of people will want to join you. A few of those are bound to be pretty good at CricSim.

    So anyone who joins will be known as a tryhard? That's definitely a fair stereotype to put on the seconds team.

    We signed people we like, just so happens they are dominant players.

    Agreed, We have knocked back a few very good ALC players, but we have faith in the people who have already agreed to terms. We won't take skill over personality.

    Surely the Stickies stand for something. We would have to be one of the clubs that have lost less of our respected members over the seasons that i have been here, well besides Ged and AVA who went to the clubs that they were heavily involved with creating it. Thats my opinion, but then again, i havn't been here from the get go, and don't really know what happened prior to Season 6.

    I think the gamblers will be good for Cricsim. I just hope they don't end up like the Redbacks.

    At least they've shown us who are loyal and who will leave at the drop of a hat.
