    i meant not liverpool fans. people have always thought he was shite. and i can guarantee before this season, if you asked 90% of football fans who they thought liverpool player of the season would be they wouldnt say lucas in the top 5.

    I don't think including Gerrard would make the team worse, but I do agree with Veri that he isn't as big a player as he once was. He's good, but he's had his time now. Liverpool need to bring through players now, and start playing players like Gerrard and Carragher less. Suarez makes much much more of an impact on games than Gerrard does.

    Gerrard is still world class when hes on the pitch and playing, that's just what he's finding hard at the moment. He is certainly an integral part of the mould and side we're building.

    Side you're building? He'll be gone soon. Give him another couple of seasons. Injuries will strike too. It would be silly to make him an integral part of the team, and look to build a team which still reload on him. Especially when you have players like Lucas.

    Im not saying He's going to kick Lucas out? I'm saying hes still an integral part of the side because he's one of the best players in England?

    Heres silly me thinking we should start Gerrard while gaffa Logan has got him playing ressies and starting Spearing because hes younger.

    I know you're not. You'd say he's one of the best players in England this season? He's played in what, 5 games? And he's not even started all of them. Wouldn't say he's an integral part of the team. Not like Suarez, Lucas, Reina, etc.

    Someone whose only played once in months and months and when he did played shite apart from a shit free kick is one of the best players in England

    Wouldnt agree at all

    Im not saying hes bad, or even average but so long out no one can possibly make a solid judgement on how good hes going to be when hes back to fitness wether its good or bad.

    And if he was fit the other day he wouldn't have had anywhere near enough practise to dislodge some form CM's

    Playing reserves, Got a few other good strikers around him in Morgan and Eccleston. Eccleston got a first team call up last night but stayed on the bench all night.

    Obviously not this season as he hasnt played? And he obviously hasn't played because he has been injured? You're making it sound like he's only played 5 matches and hasn't started because he's not good enough. I'm talking about when he is fit, the side still revolves around him and he is the leader of the side and face of the club. Certainly an integral part of the side and club.

    Well exactly! It's not the first time he's missed a lot of games due to injuries either. That's not what I was saying at all! I was saying that you can't rely on someone who's going to be injured to be an integral part of the team! Of course, he is still a great player, but it would be a mistake to essentially build the team around him. Certainly, from a publicity side of things, he's an integral part of the team. You can't base someone being an integral part of the team simply from "when they're fit".

    Would you say that to Alex Fergusson? After he carted out all his top, experience, senior players, and STILL won the league. Obviously, he had a completely different crop of players, and I not saying Liverpool should get rid of all their best players, I just think Gerrard is no where near the standard he once was, and that Liverpool shouldn't really on them the way the fans seem to think they do.
