Yeah he maybe opens once or twice every domestic season as an stop gap emergency thing or whatever; must coincidentally be the only Goodwin scorecard Captain looks at every season, because both on here on CW he keeps drafting him and then making him open. He's not an opener's arsehole.
How much of a penalty will affect Goodwin if they manage to open with him, just curious, it wouldn't be too much I would think?
You're shitting me right? How do I check how many times he's opened in FC cricket and the runs he has there?
In the last four county seasons, Goodwin has played 62 First Class matches and opened in one of them. I could keep going back further but I cbf and I think that sufficiently proves my point. The weird thing though is that match was in fact his most recent match, meaning Captain was completely on drugs when he kept picked him to open in previous CPLs/CWPLs, as they happened before that game.
Dong isn't completely at fault for not checking here . I honestly just assumed he opened the majority of the time in County Cricket when Captain mentioned him as an opener so didn't bother looking at scorecards. Do recall he used to mostly bat 3/4 in Aus though. No matter really, he's still a rather handy batsmen :shrugs:
There's absolutely nothing wrong with the pick; probably should've gone a bit earlier than he did IMO. But I don't think opening with him would make full use of him as a player. Rohit's not really a #3 as such, so now you can put Goodwin at 3, Rohit at 5 and Chandimal at 6 (or the other way around I suppose), still just needing an allrounder and another opener. Definitely not disastrous.
