I'd be interested to see what everyones are? I'm going with the following catergories:

Role Playing/Adventure, Sport, Shooter, Arcade, Racing, Multi Player. (Feel free to add another category)

    Here's my list:

    Role Playing/Adventure game:

    Pokemon Red/Blue (yellow): Gameboy pocket/colour
Hard to go past the original pokemon games here, the only game I can honestly say I've pumped 1000+ hours into. No other game has quite captured my imagination nor had the longevity of the original pokemon games. The follow up versions of Gold and Silver were pretty good and had more depth, but the first versions were pretty ground breaking. Around 15 years since it's release many owners of it could still tell you all about it.

Runners Up for RPG: Banjo Kazooie: Nintendo 64, Final Fantasy X: PS2

    Sports Game:
    Cricket 2004: PS2
Another game that I played relentlessly and more than likely still would today if my PS3 was backwards compatible. Despite possessing a few annoying glitches with team lists, I would devote entire weekends to this thing and leave my playstation on for days at a time to keep my team right. Very comprehensive selection of teams and players worldwide and good game play saw a lot of my mates wanting to borrow it for weekends.

Runners Up for Sports: Rugby League 2: PS2, Fight Night Round 2: PS2

    Shooter:
Conker's Bad Fur Day: Nintendo 64
Admittedly not a massive 'shoot em up' game player, there's just not enough positive things I can say about Conker's Bad Fur Day. Squirrels Vs Teddy Bears in an all out war, chainsaws, snipers, chain guns samuri swords and more swearing than Cribb would allow on the site. Was a massive gamble by the games makers considering the 'conker' games released before it but it's one of the most memorable games I've ever played.

Runners Up for Shooters: Call of Duty Modern Warfare: PS3, 007 Goldeneye: Nintendo 64

    Arcade
    :
    Super Smash Brothers: Nintendo 64
Would just about be my favourite game of all time. Loved it the first time I played it and still play it regularly now, a pretty simple game really but I've never got tired of it. I think I like it so much because I'm a weapon at it and always have been. Love the game play and the set up of how it's won and lost, a bit different to traditional fighting games. All round good fun.

Runners Up Arcade: Brutal: Super Nintendo, Tekken: PS1

    Racing & Multiplayer
    [IMG]
    Mario Kart: Nintendo 64
Best multiplayer game I've come across and easily the best racing game. A game that's had remarkable longevity and is still awesome fun to play. I've got relatives that weren't even born when it came out who play it regularly. The versions before it and after it have been pretty good, but it's fair to say the 64 version is best remembered. Whether on the kids show 'Amazing' and racing for prizes or sitting at home stoned playing Rainbow Road, you're gonna have a great time.

Runners Up Racing: FX Zero: Nintendo 64, Midnight Club II: PS2

Runners Up Multiplayer: 007 Goldeneye: Nintendo 64, Call of Duty games, newer Fifa games.

    Role Playing: 1. Baldur's Gate 2 - Shadows of Amn (2000) - PC
    2. Star Control 2 - The Ur Quan Masters (1992) - PC
    3. Fallout 3 (2008) - XBOX 360
    4. Millennium 2.2 (1989) - PC

Sports: Sensible World of Soccer - PC

Platformer: 1. Sorcery Plus (1985) - Amstrad CPC
    2. Time Bandit (1986) - Atari ST
    3. Rescue (1984) - Sinclair Spectrum

Not sure if any of these really count as platformers as none of them involved platforms. Not sure what genre you'd call them. Sorcery Plus was akin to a platformer, but you flew around the screen so no need for platforms. Time Bandit and Rescue were both top down views - and, most importantly, all three of these are still incredibly playable over 25 years after release.

    Multiplayer: Warlords (1979) - Atari 2600

Shoot Em Up: Descent (1995) - PC - Had a brilliant point of difference over many shooters of the time. Haven't played it in ages though.

I still have my Jonah Lomu Rugby disc. I remember jamming on it as a little boy for hours.

For all the cricket games I personally liked EA 2007, 02 was glitchy as. I was never that fussed on the Ricky pointing series - still played them for hours

For NBA hands down 2k11/ 2k12 that massive leap from 2k10 to 2k11 was huge.

I don't play games on PC these days (haven't for ages) but when I was younger I really enjoyed the Roller Coaster Tycoon, Simcity and AOE series. Sims went alright too.

If I think back to the PS1 and PS2 days. Jak and Daxter, Rachet and Clank, Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, Gran Turismo are the classics. I'm forgetting something, I just know it.
