The tricky bit deciding how many pace bowlers to take in. All four of those always take wickets with the new ball. Also working out what's the best use of Flack.

Yeah I think the important thing to appreciate the importance of roles in generating the stats players get. Not getting to bowl at the death will comparatively blow out a bowler's average, and batting in the top 3 gives a player a much bigger chance to make big runs and not have to hit out. It's tempting to look at the stats and stack the team with opening batsman and death bowlers.

For that reason, the players who manage to put up good stats in middle overs bowling roles or finishers with the bat stand out to me. Welker is basically first picked for this reason, but Chung and Weaver are really good in the middle overs too. Hunt, Nova, Farhat and Astele also do a good specialist job there in different ways.

You've accounted for that better than most would IMO, particularly given you've got Mousey and Farhat to help out with the middle overs bowling if need be as well, but I'd probably go Ridd, Howe, Flack, Weaver, Welker as the main five bowlers, leaving out the third specialist opening/death bowler as Flack does that job too, and not trying to stick a keeper at 8.

Farhat, Verigotta and Dempsey are still ranked high in batting but they've fallen away a fair bit this season so I'd probably leave them out. Ultimately I'd probably roll with:

    1. Morgan
    2. Heads
    3. Delonge
    4. Alessi
    5. Son
    6. Flack
    7. O'Neill
    8. Weaver
    9. Welker
    10. Ridd
    11. Howe

Perry, Gemmell, Martyn all pretty close at nabbing a 3-4 spot really.

Perry in instead of one of the O'Neills?

    Azzal at 2 and 7??

  7. Cribbage RG Cribb

Oh the top Azzal is supposed to be Heads. Moved him down to 7 but forgot to actually do it.

Reckon Farhat does a better job of middle overs dobbing than you're giving him credit for.

If I brought in Weaver to improve the bowling it'd probably be for Flack but the latter is just too good a cricketer to miss out.

  9. Mousey AJ Son

Fuck yeah, getting the props. Love it.

Mike needs to be in there I reckon.

Aren't I kinda bad at OD cricket?

You've been kinda meh in HC cricket but you've smashed it in provincial stuff. Ranked 14 with the bat and 40 with the ball overall, but I picked you because you've been the most successful aggressive opener. The rest of the top four all moderate batsmen; you're my team's Sanath I guess you could say. Alternatively I could have picked Gemmell at 4 and someone like Burridge, myself or Speirs to open but that would have been four moderate/defensive batsmen to start followed by three aggressive ones and I think it's good to split them up a little bit.

  14. Mike ML Martyn

Even in HC where he's averaged just under 33 this season, his strike rate's more than a run a ball.

  15. Athlai JJD Heads

    I'll definitely claim Sanath.

    I think I'm a poor mans Klusener

Nah you're more like Pollock IMO.

You're ranked second in ODers now. Fair gap between you and third too.

Im amazed at how good I am at OD cricket, and I'm so consistent!
