CPL Cricket 'Origin'

I thought I'd list where everyone comes from and see if it reveals any interesting patterns. I've grouped them largely by birthplace, but if players have clearly grown up and learnt their cricket elsewhere I've moved them to the more realistic category (for example, O'Keefe is not Malaysian and Symonds isn't English). All lists are sorted in order of where the players were picked in the draft.

I think the funniest thing was Western Australia:

    MEK Hussey
    SM Katich
    DJ Hussey
    MJ North
    L Ronchi
    AC Voges
    SE Marsh
    JL Langer

That's more than an entire batting lineup without a single bowler. Produce more bowlers you shit ****s.

  3. Cribbage RG Cribb

Might split England into South and North if I can be ****ed later. :p

  4. Cribbage RG Cribb

Queensland surprised me by being able to field a competitive eleven:

    1 SR Watson
    2 ML Hayden
    3 CA Lynn
    4 A Symonds
    5 BP Nash
    6 JR Hopes
    7 CD Hartley
    8 AA Noffke
    9 NM Hauritz
    10 MG Johnson
    11 CR Swan

    12th: SJ Magoffin

Real team of allrounders - batting down to 11 and 7 serious bowling options. Only four of those players actually play for Queensland these days though.

  5. Farny AP Farnsworth

Where exactly would Kieswetter fit in? :p

  6. Cribbage RG Cribb

Actually, he should be in the South Africa list with Pietersen and Trott.

  7. Cribbage RG Cribb

Victoria have exactly eleven players but it happens to form a well-balanced team:

    1. Nick Jewell
    2. Michael Klinger
    3. Brad Hodge
    4. Cameron White
    5. Andrew McDonald (5)
    6. Matthew Wade
    7. Peter Nevill
    8. Shane Warne (4)
    9. Clint McKay (2)
    10. Peter Siddle (3)
    11. Dirk Nannes (1)

  8. Farny AP Farnsworth

    Bingo.

Also, Lumb is a Yorkshireman really, deep down.

Lumb tbh has one of the broadest South African accents of all time. :p

  10. Verigoat S Verigotta

Predicit North of England being far Superior to South

  11. Farny AP Farnsworth

Haha, yeah, he does need to work on that. Granted. Still, I consider him a lot more English than a good few England players.

  12. Athlai JJD Heads

Indian domestic cricket is clearly teh bestest.

  13. morgieb MC Burridge

How do you decide who goes into what side?

  14. Athlai JJD Heads

Should make a Test player list.

  15. morgieb MC Burridge

And how come Harris is counted as South African but Benkenstein as Zimbabwean?

  16. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

    Gun team.

5 of the 11 are from me, and 3 from Ged.

  17. Cribbage RG Cribb

Well I know Harris grew up in South Africa. I have no idea what Benkenstein did between being born and making his First Class debut.

  18. Cribbage RG Cribb

  19. Hunter AD Hunt

    Flips a coin.

  20. Ged GEC King

I've only got Hauritz and Watson. I'll add another one to the list very shortly though. Perhaps two if I can't think of anyone else to take..
