    LOD got a pretty strong offer from the Sharks but still decided to hang them up, I think he was genuinely just ready for retirement if the Roosters couldn't fit him into the cap.

    I just think so long at the top is finally catching up to Manly.

    story is that Stewart has been offered peanuts to stay at manly and canberra have well and truly trumped that plus been onto him about trumping this seasons offer and severely front loading his potential contract (think Dugan + ferguson + earl contracts). he's therefore asked manly for an early release and negotiations are in place. manly want to keep him but realise the situation they're in. I imagine they will try and put forward a big front loaded contract to dce and if he agrees they'll release Stewart a year early.

    I wouldn't be surprised if it all fizzles out but it'd be a pretty good move by both clubs if that all pans out IMO.

    Yeah definitely would make it much easier to stomach if he signs beyond 2015 means he virtually plays for peanuts beyond then and would potentially retire earlier.

    If he is going to sign he will sign for at least 2 years, front loading his contract increases the likelihood of him retiring earlier to free up a spot in the squad.

    Getting sneered at for saying if we don't get Stewart this year there's no fucking point. We'd be better off offering a big contract to Tohu Harris which Melbourne couldn't match. Sometimes I wonder if fans actually watch football.

    Not sure there's even that much point of getting him this year. If he plays like he did last year again then you're better off playing the shunts you've got.

    Agree Cribb but I would presume we're not using at least 600k of this year's cap so we may as well. May even be able to front load half or so of next year's deal as well.

    Would be a gamble but would improve the squad considering what we've got. Would personally rather they gamble and bring Mago into first grade off the bench in place of Kennedy.

    Front ending wouldn't make a difference whether he comes this year or next, Maloney was front ended while he was still at the Warriors somehow. If he doesn't come at all then management should be front loading other contracts to free up more cash for next year, but they aren't that smart.

    So some good news.Fensom just had a slight ligament strain in his elbow and is cleared to play against Penrith. Thank fuck for that, when I saw it happen I thought he'd broken his wrist or something.

    Reckon Stuart has to drop Tupou and bring in a backrower for one of the props against Penrith.
